This position is supported by a recently awarded NIH R35 grant, providing long-term support for mechanistic and translational investigations centered on angiopoietin/Tie2 signaling, microvascular repair, and host response after injury.Research Focus & TechniquesThe successful candidate will lead and contribute to projects using cutting-edge molecular, cellular, and spatial profiling approaches to dissect vascular and immune signaling across injury models. Key technologies and methodologies include:Single-cell RNA-seq/CITE-seq, bulk RNA profiling, and spatial transcriptomics and proteomicsqPCR and flow cytometryCell culture, ELISAs, and murine experimentation (burn, infection, and resuscitation models)Histology, immunofluorescence, and biomarker quantificationTranslational science platforms including organ-on-chip, bioreactor systems, and bioinformatics workflows for high-dimensional data integrationKey ResponsibilitiesDesign and perform independent and collaborative experiments in vascular biology, inflammation, and endothelial signaling.Analyze high-dimensional data from single-cell and spatial platforms in coordination with BSTRI's bioinformatics core.Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams across BSTRI, including groups focused on resuscitation, regenerative medicine, and host-pathogen interactions.Present findings at national conferences and contribute to manuscript and grant preparation.Perform other duties as assigned.Minimum Education and/or Work ExperiencePhD, MD/PhD, or equivalent degree in biomedical sciences (e.g., immunology, vascular biology, molecular biology, physiology).QualificationsPhD, MD/PhD, or equivalent degree in biomedical sciences (e.g., immunology, vascular biology, molecular biology, physiology).Demonstrated proficiency in molecular and cell biology techniques; prior experience in omics data or animal models preferred.Strong publication record, scientific rigor, and collaborative mindset.Excellent written and oral communication skills.EnvironmentThe Burn Shock Trauma Research Institute (BSTRI) at Loyola University Chicago is an interdisciplinary center uniting scientists and clinicians focused on burn injury, trauma, sepsis, and regenerative medicine.
