Our Biomedical Intelligence Cloud is a Knowledge Graph platform used by many of the top global pharmaceutical and biotech companies to synthesize knowledge from millions of datasets and publications to better understand disease mechanisms, identify new drug targets and biomarkers, discover opportunities for drug repositioning and identify drug combination strategies.We are seeking a highly motivated Director of Computational Biology and AI to join our team and help us drive the next stages of development of the platform and the company.In this role, you will drive and oversee the development of new tools and platform components for our Biomedical Intelligence Cloud Platform, including improving existing platform capabilities and extending the platform to new research areas. You will apply your knowledge in computational biology, machine learning and AI, computer science, and statistics to develop and improve models and algorithms for the analysis of multidimensional biomedical data and provide innovative solutions to key research problems in drug discovery and pharmaceutical R&D. You will work closely with other members of our team, customers, and partners to identify the most pressing challenges and address them using cutting-edge computational biology and ML/AI applications.ResponsibilitiesDrive the development of new apps and solutions on the company’s SaaS platform, working closely with the product development team and other members of senior leadership.Lead a team of computational biologists and ML/AI data scientists in the development and implementation of novel data analysis models and applications.Work closely with internal and external partners (including our pharma and biotech clients).Engage with customers to understand their data analysis needs and provide technical support as needed.Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in the field of computational biology, AI and machine learning, and apply new methodologies and techniques to advance the company's research and development efforts.Participate in scientific conferences, workshops, and other industry events to share research findings and promote the company's work.Author and contribute to scientific publications, whitepapers, and technical documentation.Provide input and guidance on data quality control and data governance policies and procedures.Participate in hiring and onboarding new team members, contributing to the company's culture of collaboration and innovation.QualificationsPhD in bioinformatics, computer science or a related discipline8+ years of experience in computational biology, machine learning / AI, data science or scientific software development with a track record of success in managing and mentoring teams of bioinformatics and data scientistsStrong programming skills in languages such as Python and RDeep knowledge and experience analyzing large-scale omics and molecular data either in an industry or academia settingDeep knowledge and experience in computational biology, machine learning and/or AI models and algorithmsStrong publication record in peer-reviewed journals and conferencesExcellent analytical skills and attention to detailExcellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.Additional qualifications (some of the following would be a plus)Expertise in knowledge graphs and knowledge graph AI modelsExpertise in training and/or fine-tuning foundation modelsExpertise in single-cell, Perturb-seq and/or spatial transcriptomics data analysisExperience in creating user-facing bioinformatics services and applications analyzing large and/or heterogeneous datasetsExperience with software development for web-based platforms, including front-end and/or back-end developmentFamiliarity with software engineering practices such as version control, code review, and testingFamiliarity with containerization technologies, such as Docker and KubernetesExperience in database systems (including SQL, NoSQL and/or graph databases)Experience with Unix/Linux operating systemsExperience in cloud computing platforms such as AWS or GCPWhat we offerCompetitive compensation and comprehensive benefits packageOpportunities for professional growth, learning, and leadershipCollaborative, innovative, and mission-driven work environmentGenerous PTOData4Cure is an equal opportunity employer.
