*JOB DESCRIPTION:*
The Speech and Language Therapist will provide speech, language and auditory training therapy to toddlers and preschoolers who are deaf, hard of hearing and/or have speech and language delays on an individual or small group basis. Direct and consulting services will be provided to the student and their families, including sharing information with parents and other team members related to the student’s progress and development.

*JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:*
* Manage a caseload of students who are deaf/hard of hearing and/or children with severe speech and language delays and their families
* Work with children who are deaf, hard of hearing and/or have speech and language delays.
* Provide direct oral-motor and speech therapy, language therapy, and/or auditory training.
* Provide direct services/therapy as needed to support students’ learning
* Provide parents with information about deafness, language development, oral-motor skills, auditory training, speech development and other related information .
* Maintain records of child progress and parent communication
* Work cooperatively with parents, consultants, and program staff
* Prepare assessments and written reports for families and IFSP/IEP meetings; Attend and present at
* IFSP/IEP meetings as needed
* Maintain confidentiality of the families and of all program operations at CEID.
* Represent the agency at community meetings
* Attend weekly staff meetings, and participate in team meetings including consultations with medical experts
* Participate in agency fundraising and special events as needed
* Conduct special workshops as needed for parents, staff and or other outreach
* Attend fundraisers and events as a representative of CEID

*KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES*
_Required _
* Master’s Degree in Speech and Language Pathology with certificate of clinical competence
* California Licensure as a Speech and Language Pathologist (or for Clinical Fellowships, temporary license.)
* Understanding of Total Communication Philosophies
* Good interpersonal communication skills
* Ability to take initiative in developing creative teaching activities and record keeping;
* Ability to lift small preschoolers and monitor positioning and special needs of child

_Desirable _
* Minimum of 3 years’ experience working with young children who are D/HH in early education or clinical setting
* Knowledge of the AUSPLAN approach to auditory development and the LING approach
* Knowledge of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) devices
* Knowledge/experience in working with children who have Cochlear Implants, Bone Anchor Hearing
* Aides, Hearing Aides, and other adaptative equipment
* Experience of deaf culture
* Knowledge of sign language (SEE, ASL).
* Knowledgeable in parent support skills, normal child development and “play.”

*SALARY AND BENEFITS*
This is a part time position with an estimated 20-24 hours/week. Wage is commensurate with experience, $45-65/hour

As a role working less than 30 hours per week, full benefits will not be offered. Sick time per California Law will be offered, and access to partial benefits such as a Flexible Spending Account, will be available after the waiting period has completed.
