Job Information Associate and Full Professor in the Knight Foundation School of Computer and Information Sciences The Knight Foundation School of Computing and Information Sciences (KFSCIS) at Florida International University (FIU) in Miami, Florida, invites applications for tenured faculty positions at the Associate and Professor levels. We welcome candidates who currently hold tenure or anticipate receiving tenure within the next year. KFSCIS seeks exceptional scholars in all areas of Computer Science, with particular emphasis on Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, Health/Biomedical Informatics, Robotics, and Systems. This year's search also includes cluster hires with FIU's Extreme Events Institute (EEI) and International Hurricane Research Center (IHRC) for faculty specializing in risk modeling and mitigation, coastal resilience, and disaster risk reduction. Candidates whose research integrates AI/ML, computational modeling, robotics, or computing systems to address complex real-world challenges—such as ML‑driven risk analysis, digital twin technologies, and infrastructure resilience—are especially encouraged to apply. Applicants with experience in two or more of these overlapping areas, or in interdisciplinary fields, are highly encouraged to apply. A doctorate in Computer Science or a related discipline is required, along with a proven track record of impactful research and dedication to excellent teaching. Successful candidates should demonstrate ongoing engagement with funded research, scholarly publications, professional service, and leadership in significant projects. The roles involve graduate and undergraduate teaching responsibilities, as well as active involvement in departmental and university activities. As a part of the College of Engineering and Computing (CEC), KFSCIS encompasses several research centers, including federally funded centers of excellence. CEC also manages other research facilities such as the Center for Advanced Technology and Education (CATE), the Center for Integrated Security, Privacy, and Trustworthy AI (CIERTA), the High Performance Database Research Center (HPDRC), and the Lehman Center for Transportation Research. We aim to establish multiple multidisciplinary research centers in strategic areas like AI and health, aging in place, and AI and the environment. The school has nearly 40 tenured and tenure‑track faculty members, many of whom have received prestigious awards such as NSF, DOE, DOD CAREER or Young Investigator, and PECASE, along with other national recognitions for their excellence. Our research is supported by federal grants from agencies including NIH, NSF, DOD, DARPA, DOE, DHS, and DOT. KFSCIS serves over 4,200 students, featuring more than 100 Ph.D. candidates and 300 M.S. students. The School continues to expand its exciting programs in research, education, and outreach. Degree offerings include B.A., B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. programs in Computer Science; B.S. and M.S. degrees in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, and Data Science and Artificial Intelligence. KFSCIS boasts several advanced computing clusters with top‑tier infrastructure and enjoys strong partnerships across industry and international sectors. Computer Science has been identified as one of the University's strategic growth areas, and KFSCIS has launched many initiatives and degree programs to produce technologically‑trained expertise for the burgeoning South Florida Tech Hub. Continuing our multi‑year expansion effort, we aim to strategically add multiple faculty members this year. KFSCIS is committed to fostering an intellectually vibrant academic community. Dual‑career couples with research that aligns with KFSCIS are encouraged to submit individual applications and mention this in their cover letters. Qualified candidates are encouraged to apply to Job Opening ID# 536305 at careers.fiu.edu and attach a cover letter, curriculum vitae, and statements of research and teaching philosophy.
