This is a 6.5 hour position, 5 days per week.

JOB SUMMARY:

To assist in the preparation and delivery of nourishing meals for students and staff.

% of Time

MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

40%

Assist in the food preparation for the breakfast and lunch program:
  1. Assist in the baking of the breakfast items and breakfast ala-carte set up.
  2. Assist in the preparation of the main entree' and/or dessert.
25%

Assist in the food distribution for the breakfast and lunch program:
  1. Assist in serving lunch to students and staff.
20%

Assist in the clean up for the breakfast and lunch program:
  1. Assist in the cleaning of all kitchen areas, including, but not limited to, equipment, counters, fryers, etc.
15%

Assist in the recording and accounting of meals served for students and staff.
  1. Assist in collecting and recording student and staff meal expenses.
CRITICAL SKILLS/EXPERTISE

Physical Involvement:
  1. Position requires extended periods of standing often during the entire shift.
  2. Position requires frequent bending/stooping.
  3. The position requires occasional lifting of up fifty pounds.

    4. Work duties must be completed in a swift manner.
Mental Involvement:
  1. Position requires ability to take directions, answer questions or get answers for questions.
  2. The position requires the ability to complete tasks in a timely manner including the pressure of classes being served in a timely fashion.
  3. Position requires need for handling multiple tasks.
  4. The position requires the ability to enter breakfast and lunch information in the computer at a fast pace.
Working Conditions:
  1. Exposure to various room temperatures from cooking to utilization of freezer/refrigerator equipment.
  2. Exposure to noise levels from equipment and students.
  3. Exposure to potential danger from equipment (slicer, oven, deep fat fryer).
  4. Some exposure to cleaning chemicals.
Supervision of Other Employees:
  1. This position does not include supervision or work direction of other employees.
MIMUMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

A. High school graduate or equivalent.

Experience:
  1. Previous food preparation experience preferred.
Special Knowledge or Skills:
  1. Able to work effectively as a team member with co-workers.
  2. Some computer skills recommended.
Equipment, Machines, Tools, Electronic Devices, Software:
  1. Operates commercial kitchen appliances such as stoves, mixers, fryer, dishwasher, steam-tables, etc.
  2. Uses kitchen tools such as slicer, knives, etc.
  3. Operates computer and Wordware software.
JOB OUTCOMES:
  1. Projects a positive, cooperative, and respectful attitude with parents, students, and other employees.
  2. Food is prepared in a healthy and nutritious manner.
  3. Meals are served in a pleasant and timely manner.
  4. Records of student and family accounts are maintained accurately to ensure the money accounts are at a positive balance.
  5. Students are notified of low account balances.
