Lifespan, Rhode Island's first health system, consists of a partnership between Rhode Island Hospital, Bradely Hospital, Newport Hospital, the Miriam Hospital and Coastal Medical, the largest primary care group in Rhode Island.

We are actively recruiting a Medical Director to lead the department of Employee and Occupational Health. The ideal candidate will be an innovative thinker, who is collaborative by nature with interest or experience in Occupational Health.

About the job:

  • Lead a team of 15 professionals dedicated to the health and safety of Lifespans more than 17,000 employees
  • Time will be split 50% clinical, 50% administrative
  • Work collaboratively with a variety of partners to support the strategic vision, direction of Employee and Occupational Health Services, Well-being and Integrated Absence Management for the system
  • Ensure a systematic approach for the delivery of employee and occupational health care while ensuring compliance with local, state and federal regulations and regulatory requirements as well as equity access and treatment in all areas
  • Provide clinical leadership for system Employee and Occupational Health & Workers Compensation matters and provides subject matter expertise as well as clinical oversight of Occupational Claims for Workers Compensation. Acts as medical subject matter expert in Workers Compensation matters

About you:

  • Board certified in Occupational Health, Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, or Preventive Medicine
  • Licensed or ability to become licensed in RI
  • Interest or experience in Occupational Health
  • MPH and/or DOT certification a plus but not required
