Benefits PPO medical plan, available day one at no cost for full‑time employee‑only coverage 100% coverage for preventive healthcare – no copay Paid Time Off, available day one Retirement programs through the Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS) Paid parental leave benefit Wellness programs Tuition reimbursement Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) Qualified Employer Learn more about these and other UTSW employee benefits Required – Experience and Education Graduate of a JCERT accredited program in Radiation Therapy or equivalent Bachelor's Degree in a healthcare field or Associate's Degree in a healthcare field 4 years of progressive experience as a Radiation Therapy Technologist (RTT) with Bachelor's Degree or 6 years at level of Radiation Therapist I or equivalent with Associate's Degree AMER REG of RAD TECH Licensure as a Medical Radiologic Technologist by the Texas Medical Board upon hire BLS (Basic Life Support) Course accredited by AHA or ARC upon hire Passed the registry exam as a Radiologic Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) upon hire Preferred Education – Graduate of a JCERT accredited program with a Master's degree in a healthcare field (optional) MRI training preferred, but not required Job Duties Operate a variety of complex treatment machines to deliver the prescribed treatment dose; may be asked to operate on cutting‑edge treatment machines with Chief Therapist approval. Prepare and educate patients for radiotherapy; administer complex radiotherapy treatment and monitor patient separation from complex treatment machine. Provide mentorship of Radiation Therapist I in conventional radiotherapy treatments. Prepare treatment room and fabricate immobilization/treatment devices. Coordinate patient scheduling and retrieval of patient records. Assure radiation safety measures for patients and personnel. Track, record, and compile all clinical research data of patients following departmental and IRB policies. Follow and participate in development of program's policies, procedures, and quality assurance methods. Discuss technical problems with faculty and staff to suggest corrections and/or solutions. Consult with supervisor or physician concerning treatment. May perform computer‑driven dosimetry and all related treatment plan calculations. Assist in commissioning, calibration, quality assurance, and physical measurements as appropriate for system accuracy. Participate in call duties for non‑emergent and emergent clinical needs as assigned. Actively engage in teaching, supervising, and evaluating students in the Radiation Therapy program. Perform orientation of new employees, not limited to therapists. Demonstrate effective leadership performance in the following areas: a. Adequate time slots provided for daily treatments. b. Participate in resolution of machine coverage issues. c. Aptitude to manage patient throughput with a pace consistent to the daily schedule. d. Skill to meet special scheduling request/needs for patients without compromising the schedules of other patients. e. Provide input at meetings on improvements or changes. Perform other duties as assigned.
