$55-$62/hour

As part of our continued growth and digital transformation efforts, we are seeking a skilled Data Engineer to join our team on a contract basis.


Position Overview:

The Data Engineer will play a critical role in managing and optimizing data pipelines, ensuring the reliability and scalability of our data architecture. This role involves working closely with cross-functional teams, including IT, data science, and business units, to support data-driven decision-making processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data engineering within the energy and utilities sector.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Data Pipeline Development: Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines to collect, process, and analyze large datasets from various sources.
  • Data Integration: Integrate data from multiple sources, ensuring data consistency, quality, and availability for analytical and operational needs.
  • Data Modeling: Develop and optimize data models to support efficient storage, retrieval, and analysis of data.
  • ETL Processes: Implement and manage ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to ensure timely and accurate data delivery.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with data scientists, analysts, and other stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver high-quality data solutions.
  • Data Quality: Monitor and improve data quality, implementing best practices for data governance and security.
  • Performance Optimization: Optimize database performance and query execution, ensuring the system meets performance standards.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain detailed documentation of data engineering processes, workflows, and systems.


Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience:
  • Proven experience as a Data Engineer, preferably within the energy and utilities industry.
  • Strong experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, data warehousing solutions, and ETL tools.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, or Kafka is a plus.
  • Skills:
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and data architecture best practices.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
