At Northfield Park Racino, the Payroll Manager oversees all property payroll operations, ensuring timely, accurate processing of pay in compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws, gaming regulations, and internal controls. This position maintains payroll integrity, supports audit and tax reporting, and leads the property’s payroll team. Essential Job Functions / Duties Implements, maintains, and reviews payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions in compliance with company and regulatory guidelines. Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates. Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports of payroll transactions. Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices. Facilitates audits by providing records and documentation to auditors. Identifies and recommends updates to payroll processing software, systems, and procedures. Reviews time records for completeness. Verifies team member data integrated into payroll system. Verifies payroll deductions. Reviews and ensures accuracy of payroll-related tax filings. Prepares or directs compilation of payroll data for reports. Assists the general ledger staff with payroll related journal entries and accruals. Determines work procedures, prepares work schedules, and expedites workflow. Supervises Payroll Associates and ensures a productive and pleasant work environment. Responds to payroll questions from team members. Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff in the department. Oversees the daily workflow of the department. Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations. Performs other duties as assigned. Job Specifications Must be 21 years of age or older. Five or more years of applicable experience with a minimum of three years of supervisory/managerial experience, Associates or above degree preferred, or combination of experience and education. Extensive knowledge of the payroll function including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills. Strong supervisory and leadership skills. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
