This position may operate under flextime due to irregular business hours, requiring flexibility to accommodate evening, holiday, and weekend requests.

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct thorough photographic research utilizing specialized electronic image databases, commercial stock photo houses, and news services like the Associated Press.
Select images that are aesthetically pleasing and culturally appropriate, aligning with the public diplomacy objectives of GPA publications.
Customize image searches based on the unique audience and format requirements of each publication (e.g., print articles, electronic books, social media).
Evaluate and edit photo captions to ensure accuracy and relevance.
Collaborate with Office/Division supervisors to prioritize project plans and deliverables.
Utilize FTP for file transfers, both uploading and downloading.

Qualifications:

5-10 years of professional experience as a Photo Editor.
Proficiency in industry practices regarding the use of photo images in both print and electronic media.
Experience negotiating intellectual property rights for images, including under short deadlines.
Familiarity with pricing and market conditions related to image use in publications.
Knowledge of cultural sensitivities impacting content in public diplomacy publications.
Excellent organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Strong critical thinking and analytical abilities.
Team-oriented with a flexible approach to work.
Government or Department of State (DOS) experience preferred.

Work Schedule:

Flextime position: Monday to Friday, 12:15 PM - 9:00 PM. Additional availability for non-standard business hours as required.
