The units goal is to return patients to a level of acuity in which comprehensive outpatient care can continue to improve the quality of life for the patient. Ridgeview Pavilion is a busy unit, accepting referrals and admissions 24-hours-a-day, 365 days per year. Most referrals come through the many Community Service Boards (CSBs) throughout the state of Virginia, and their Mandatory Screeners assess patients during psychiatric crisis. The unit also accepts voluntary admissions from Bristol Regional Medical Center, a tertiary care center located just across the state line in Bristol, Tennessee. In order to promote successful reintegration back into the community, family members, local CSBs and/or the court systems work with the Ridgeview Pavilion team during the treatment and discharge process to ensure smooth transitions back into the patients communities.
