Director of Warehouse and Transportation Full Time Antigo, WI, US 30+ days ago Requisition ID: 2769 Job Title:Director of Warehouse and Transportation Reports to: Senior Director of Operations Job Summary The Director of Warehouse and Transportation is responsible for the strategic leadership, direction, and operational excellence of the company’s supply chain execution across multiple warehouse, distribution, logistics, and fleet operations. This role ensures that products are stored, handled, and transported in a safe, efficient, and cost-effective manner while achieving the highest standards of customer service. The Director will oversee multiple sites, lead high-performing teams, and partner cross-functionally to drive process standardization, technology adoption, and continuous improvement. Success in this role will be measured by performance against established operational, financial, and customer service metrics. Supervisory Responsibilities Provide strong leadership, setting a positive example and fostering a collaborative work environment. Manage and develop a team, providing feedback, coaching, and guidance to support their growth and success. Set goals, plan work, and allocate tasks to ensure efficient utilization of resources and alignment with organizational objectives. Maintain open and effective communication channels within the team and with other stakeholders. Monitor team performance, provide timely feedback, and address performance issues as needed. Identify training and development needs and support the professional growth of team members. Resolve conflicts and make informed decisions to drive success. Ensure compliance with company policies and regulations. Provide strategic oversight for multi-site warehouse, distribution operations and transportation. Develop, implement, and enforce standardized processes, policies, and performance metrics across all facilities. Ensure accuracy and efficiency in inventory management, order fulfillment, and distribution activities. Drive capacity planning, space utilization, and optimization of storage systems. Lead initiatives in automation, Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) deployment, and lean process improvement. Direct the planning and execution of inbound and outbound transportation activities. Negotiate freight contracts, manage carrier and third-party logistics (3PL) relationships, and ensure cost-effective, reliable transportation solutions. Design and continuously improve the distribution network to support service-level requirements and business growth. Oversee compliance with regulatory requirements related to transportation and logistics. Provide leadership for fleet operations including asset acquisition, maintenance, utilization, safety, and replacement planning. Implement fleet management systems and processes to ensure compliance, efficiency, and safety. Develop, implement, and maintain policies and training programs for drivers to ensure compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and company safety standards. Monitor fuel usage, cost trends, and vehicle performance for optimization. Build, develop, and lead a high-performing multi-site team of warehouse, logistics, and fleet leaders. Establish and communicate short- and long-term strategic goals aligned with corporate objectives. Partner with Finance to develop and manage budgets, capital investment plans, and cost control initiatives. Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement across all locations. Required Skills and Abilities Strong strategic and analytical thinking skills. Education and Experience Knowledge of supply chain management, logistics, business administration, or related principles normally acquired through the completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred. Minimum 10–12 years of progressive leadership experience in warehouse, distribution, logistics, and fleet management, including oversight of multiple sites. Proven ability to manage complex operations with multi-site accountability. Strong expertise in Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), Transportation Management Systems (TMS), and fleet management systems. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, and move around for extended periods of time. Capability to lift and carry objects of various weights up to 50 pounds occasionally. Proficiency in using hands, fingers, and arms for tasks such as typing and writing. Sufficient visual acuity to read documents and recognize details at close and distant ranges. Ability to hear and understand verbal communication. Flexibility to bend, stoop, and reach low or high objects. Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, such as lifting, pushing, pulling, or carrying heavy objects. Adaptability to work in varying environmental conditions, such as temperature extremes, noise, dust, or fumes, depending on the nature of the job. Willingness to adhere to safety protocols and wear protective gear, including helmets, goggles, gloves, and safety shoes, as required by the job. Travel Requirements This position requires routine overnight travel and occasional travel within the workday. Driver Qualification The ability to drive a company owned/leased vehicle or personal vehicle on behalf of the company is required Inclusion in the company’s driver qualification program is required to drive a company owned/leased vehicle or personal vehicle. Agree to the company driving policies that apply to company owned/leased vehicle or personal vehicle as applicable. Possess and maintain a valid driver license and be a minimum of 21 years of age. Maintain an acceptable driving record, as evidenced by completion of a baseline motor vehicle record check and ongoing monitoring. When driving a personal vehicle on behalf of the company, must provide a copy of the declaration page from personal auto insurance that shows the policy dates and minimum coverage amounts ($300,000 bodily injury per accident/$100,000 property damage per accident or if driving less than 5 hours/200 miles a year $50,000 bodily injury per accident/$10,000 property damage per accident or the state minimum, whichever is more).
