The firm has a 50+ year history of leveraging new technologies to drive innovation and bring unique and sustainable value to our clients.We are seeking candidates to fill the position of Senior Water Resources Engineer to serve a varied client base and help expand our Water Resources Practice in North Carolina. We currently have office locations in Charlotte, Raleigh, and Kernersville but also open to remote or hybrid work candidates located in North Carolina or Ohio.The ideal candidate will have 8+ years of progressive experience and possess the professional and interpersonal skills to make a positive impact on our firm and the clients we serve. The successful candidate will possess a can-do attitude, have a passion for and take pride in their work, be a creative thinker, and have a willingness to collaborate while having the ability to work independently.Pay: 91,000 – 140,000 based upon experience, certifications, and regional market standards.SENIOR WATER RESOURCES ENGINEER ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:• Lead the planning and design of a wide range of water resources and civil infrastructure projects, including:Stream and wetland restorationDam remediationFEMA floodplain analyses and permitting (No-Rise, LOMR, CLOMR)Culvert and bridge replacementStormwater planning and designWatershed studies and asset managementSite/civil development and public utility designProgrammatic engineering support• Manage and deliver engineering projects from concept development through final design, permitting, and construction support.• Oversee project scope, schedule, and budget, ensuring high-quality and timely deliverables.• Interface with clients, stakeholders, and public agencies to build and maintain strong professional relationships.• Collaborate with internal teams, including CAD designers, EITs, and GIS technicians, to develop comprehensive engineering solutions.• Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior staff.Additional Responsibilities:Travel occasionally to client sites across the U.S. as needed.Approach complex engineering challenges with creativity and problem-solving.Maintain composure and professionalism under high-pressure or fast-paced situations.Work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.Perform additional duties as assigned.SENIOR WATER RESOURCES ENGINEER ESSENTIAL CREDENTIALS:Education:Required: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a focus in water resourcesPreferred: Master’s degree in Civil Engineering with a focus in Water ResourcesNorth Carolina PE or the ability to obtain within 6 months is required.Qualifications:Minimum of 8 years of relevant engineering experienceProficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, or equivalent softwareStrong background in hydrologic and hydraulic modeling (2D modeling experience preferred)Familiarity with GIS tools and applications is a plusKnowledge of local, state, and federal stormwater management regulationsExperience with NCDOT standards and hydraulic-related pre-qualifications is desirableSkills:Excellent written and verbal communication skillsStrong leadership, time management, and organizational abilitiesDemonstrated client/project management experience is highly preferredLJB offers competitive compensation packages, which include paid time off, a 401(k), tuition reimbursement, flexibility, and mobility.
