Job Summary Design and conduct experimental research and investigations to explore the function, formation, and structure of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA), ribonucleic acid (RNA), and cellular protein synthesis. Participate in activities such as next generation sequencing (NGS), protein purification, gene expression, polymerase chain reaction (PCR), DNA cloning, transformations, and transfections. Record, interpret, and analyze study data. Develop research documentation, such as protocols, reports, reviews, publications, manuscripts, and/or summaries. Disseminate research findings to internal and external audiences. Ensure the quality standards and scientific integrity in research activities are maintained. Remain knowledgeable of relevant scientific and technical developments. Qualifications Molecular Biology Scientist I – Requires a PhD in a scientific discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and directly related experience. Molecular Biology Scientist II – Requires a PhD in a scientific discipline and 4+ years of directly related work experience. Molecular Biology Scientist III – Requires a PhD in a scientific discipline and 6+ years of directly related work experience. Molecular Biology Scientist IV – Requires a PhD in a scientific discipline and 8+ years of directly related work experience. Molecular Biology Scientist V – Requires a PhD in a scientific discipline and 10+ years of directly related work experience. Minimum Qualifications EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT: 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor’s degree = 4 years of directly related work experience).
