How you make a difference The Psychiatrist provides a full spectrum of mental health care to inmates, including evaluation, treatment, and medication management. They coordinate care with onsite medical staff and ensure compliance with documentation and clinical protocols. The role includes overseeing psychiatric nurses, supporting transfers, and assisting with civil commitments when necessary. Psychiatrists also participate in medical review committees and deliver consultations to facility staff. Services must be provided in alignment with correctional regulations and professional standards. Key Responsibilities Conduct psychiatric evaluations, treatment, and medication management for inmate patients Maintain medical documentation and consent forms in alignment with protocols Oversee and collaborate with mental health staff, including nurses and care teams Participate in care coordination, emergency transfers, and review committeesEnsure compliance with facility regulations and maintain HIPAA standards Qualifications & Requirements EDUCATION Doctorate in psychiatry EXPERIENCE Training and experience providing psychiatric services to an adult population LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS Physician who is licensed to practice medicine in the state of employment Board-certified or board-eligible in psychiatry CPR Certified *** This position will require 4 hours/week to cover the Juvenile facility.
