HQ - Accounting - Senior Accountant

This role will primarily be responsible for managing the billing and revenue recognition for our portfolio of software companies, covering a diverse customer base of over 500 clients. As a key member of the accounting team, you will oversee monthly close journal entries, assist with reconciliations, and cultivate and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.This position offers an exciting opportunity for an individual who thrives in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment. After initial training, the position will transition to a remote work environment.ResponsibilitiesInvoicing and Customer Accounts: Manage invoicing platforms, set up customer profiles, subscriptions, and invoices, and ensure invoice accuracy by cross-referencing against contractsRevenue Recognition & Billing Management: Own unbilled and deferred revenue schedules from start to finish, ensuring proper recognition and reconciliationJournal Entries & Reconciliations: Prepare journal entries, including but not limited to bank transfers, vendor payments, auto-withdrawals, and prepaid expenses. Perform reconciliations for bank accounts, accounts receivable, other asset and liability accountsCollaboration: Develop and maintain strong working relationships with multiple departments (Accounting, Sales & Marketing, Product) as well as customer contacts, addressing inquiries from both staff and customers to resolve issues in a timely mannerCash Receipts Management: Process and apply cash receipts for multiple accounts, ensuring accurate tracking and reportingPast Due Balances: Monitor and follow up on overdue customer payments, working closely with the account managers as neededReporting & Analysis: Assist the Accounting Manager in preparing ad-hoc reports on revenue, customer data, and other financial metrics. Help develop new processes and systems for reporting and analysisAudit Preparation: Assist with audit preparation, ensuring timely and accurate documentation and dataProcess Improvement: Work closely with the Accounting Manager to identify opportunities for process improvements, contributing ideas and strategies for streamlining accounting operationsCross-functional Support: Provide additional support to the accounting team in other areas as needed, ensuring seamless operations during peak periodsExpectationsIndependent Problem-Solving: As a senior member of the accounting team, you are expected to approach tasks with a questioning mindset and understand not just how things are done, but also why things are done and think about how the puzzle pieces of the team all fit togetherLeadership: You will serve as a mentor to junior accounting staff, offering guidance and support when needed, and ensuring that deadlines are metProcess Ownership: You should have a deep understanding of accounting processes and be able to contribute to the design and implementation of process enhancementsEmotional Intelligence & Teamwork: You are expected to foster collaboration across teams and work effectively in a fast-paced, high-growth environmentRequirementsEducation: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field requiredExperience: 3-5 years of experience in general ledger accounting, billing, and revenue recognition. SaaS industry experience preferredSystems Knowledge: Familiarity with accounting software such as Business Central, Chargeover, QuickBooks, or similar platformsTechnical Skills: High proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
