Performs scheduled and unscheduled electrical maintenance and/or repair to equipment/areas throughout assigned facility.
What You Will Do
- Performs scheduled and unscheduled electrical maintenance and/or repair to equipment/areas throughout assigned facility.
- Inspects and tests electrical equipment, lighting, signal, communication, and power circuits.
- Initiates work orders in the CMMS tool.
- Documents all work, closing work orders in the current software.
- Installs, remodels, or upgrades equipment including, but not limited to, the normal and emergency power distribution systems, motors, security systems, fire alarm systems, beds, the pneumatic systems, nurse call systems, TV distribution system, and doors.
- Works with 480 volts and below, repairs cords and plugs, replaces over bed light switches, and practices lockout/tag out.
- Orders parts as needed.
- Shift work may vary based upon hospital demands and emergencies.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Complies with all policies and standards.
- For specific duties and responsibilities, refer to documentation provided by the department during orientation.
- Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.
Education
- Associate's Degree with focus on electrical studies (Required) or
- Related Vocational/Technical training (Required)
- 1+ years Electrician experience in the craft (Required)
- Specific experience in a large hospital (Preferred)
- Working knowledge of the National Electrical Codes. (Required proficiency)
- Detail-oriented and organized, with good analytical and problem solving ability. (Required proficiency)
- Notable client service, communication, and relationship building skills. (Required proficiency)
- Ability to function independently and as a team player in a fast-paced environment. (Required proficiency)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills. (Required proficiency)
- Demonstrated ability to use PCs, email, and general office equipment (i.e. printers, copy machine, FAX machine, etc.). (Required proficiency)
