Position
The Large Commercial underwriting department has an immediate opening for someone who can demonstrate the WCF values to join their team as a Senior Underwriter. This is a full-time, exempt position that reports to the Underwriting in Large Commercial leader. This candidate may reside in Utah, Colorado, Idaho, or Arizona. This candidate must be willing to travel up to one week per month.
Responsibilities
A senior underwriter applies sound underwriting principles and risk analysis to evaluate new and renewal accounts with high-level risk and coverage complexity. This person will manage a book of business to achieve premium growth, retention, and profitability; and will meet with assigned agencies and producers to review progress to business goals and with policyholders, as needed. A senior underwriter provides exemplary, timely, and personalized customer service and serves as a knowledge resource for internal and external customers.
Qualifications
- Commercial lines and workers compensation underwriting experience required in middle market and large accounts. Emphasis in Workers Compensation.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills.
- Natural curiosity backed by sound critical thinking, problem solving, analytical skills.
- Motivation to collaborate with internal partners across departments.
- Strong drive to write new business and cross-sell existing book.
- Relationship building skills to strengthen existing relationships with agency partners.
WCF Insurance offers an extensive compensation package. Benefits include Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance, company paid life insurance, 401K with a generous 6% employer match, and additional benefits such as an Employee Assistance Program and time off to volunteer. All employees earn 4 weeks of vacation their first year.
An internal candidate should have six months in their current position, acceptable job performance, and must notify their current supervisor that they have applied for the position.
