Job Title Valet Captain - Sheraton Miami Airport at Towne Park Job Summary The Guest Service Captain orchestrates the service experience for hotel guests while working alongside coworkers to ensure that the site’s service standards are met or exceeded. Under the direction of the Account Manager, the Guest Service Captain has additional duties involving coordination and administration, as well as providing troubleshooting and/or guidance when the manager is not on site. The Guest Service Captain is not a manager; however, they may handle critical issues and may be required to make judgment calls when expediency is a priority. When issues are not urgent, they report information to the manager, provide the facts of the matter and seek instruction for how to proceed. Job Details Compensation: Hourly base pay of $14 per hour plus $5–$10 per hour in tips. Work Schedule: AM/PM shifts. Benefits: Eligible for accident insurance, critical illness insurance, hospital indemnity insurance, and telemedicine benefits. Employees may also enroll in the company’s 401(k) retirement savings plan. Seasonal and temporary roles are not eligible for these benefits. Eligibility depends on job classification, length of employment, and hours worked. Essential Functions Maintains a pleasant, friendly and professional demeanor with all guests, client staff members and coworkers. Opens all vehicle and hotel doors for guests, checks them in, explains parking procedures, and parks/retrieves vehicles while driving slowly and cautiously. Uses proper phone etiquette, posts appropriately when not assisting guests, and conducts effective room presentations for bell services. Promotes a teamwork philosophy through leading by example and effective communication. Issues claim checks and manages vehicle information, secure keys, and maintains accurate records. Ensures staff do not provide lift services to any hotel or hospital guest, checks wheelchairs, and protects guest confidentiality per HIPAA. Assists the Account Manager with scheduling, revenue collection, cash drops, shift reports, and revenue reconciliation. Qualifications Education: High school diploma or GED. Required Licensure/Certification: Must be at least 18 years old; pass a criminal background, MVR and drug screen; complete the Wheelchair Safety Training course. Work Experience: Six (6) months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge: Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. Skills: Drive manual transmission. Speak, read, & write Standard English. Read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Write simple correspondence. Present information effectively in one‑on‑one and small group settings. Apply reasoning to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form. Mathematical skills: add/subtract 3‑digit numbers, multiply/divide by 10’s and 100’s, handle American currency operations. Understand 24‑hour and military time systems. Understand rates applicable to time passed. Authority To Act: Job is fairly routine; decisions made within specific operational instructions and department guidelines; errors in judgment could affect smooth operation. Physical Requirements Regularly required to talk or hear; sit or stand for extended periods; run, walk, handle objects, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Vision required: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, ability to adjust focus. Lifting requirements: up to 100 pounds occasionally, up to 50 pounds frequently, up to 20 pounds constantly. Work environment: primarily outdoors for extended periods including entire shift; exposure to extreme heat and cold weather. Travel: up to 5% of time.
