Senior Director; Membership Sales & Healthy Living Position Summary The Membership Sales & Healthy Living Director is responsible for leading all aspects of the Membership and Healthy Living Team. The role includes developing new strategic approaches to marketing and membership sales, identifying marketplace opportunities, engaging new partners, developing proposals, and managing the contract process. Additionally, the Director will oversee the Healthy Living Department, create strategies to increase personal training revenue, and manage 30–40 group exercise classes. Success is measured by effective day‑to‑day operations and long‑term strategic goal achievement. Essential Functions Oversees the Membership Department with an emphasis on the Sales process. Effectively plans, executes, and reports on strategies that support new member recruitment and ensures that sales, cancellations, net, and membership revenue goals are met. Develops daily, weekly, and monthly plans outlining specific actions toward membership recruitment, sales, and development strategies and objectives. Creates a member‑focused culture and models relationship‑building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions. Implements membership strategies that support retention of existing members, foster a climate of innovation, and resolve problems to ensure member satisfaction. Oversees Group Exercise, Personal Training, Wellness Programs, and Wellness Center daily operations. Audits programming frequently to ensure compliance, efficiency, and engagement, making changes as needed for the betterment of the Wellness Program. Maintains own current certifications and stays up to date on industry trends. Covers front‑line shifts in the department to ensure staffing coverage. Controls and tracks department budgets related to this position. Makes budget recommendations to the VP of Finance & CEO. Actively participates in the hiring process, as well as training and developing staff and volunteers. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Participates in the planning of the annual budget, manages and implements the approved budget for membership and healthy living, and takes appropriate action to correct variances. Hits target goals set for Membership and Personal Training. Develops plans and implements new procedures and methods, within Association guidelines, to achieve sales (both Membership & Personal Training) and strategic objectives. Supports the family center’s programs through relationship building, sales/marketing, public relations, and program registration. Assists the Healthy Living team in development of member‑centered programs. Oversees the training and development of the Membership and Healthy Living staff to grow membership and healthy living revenue while creating a positive experience. Contributes ideas and executes an innovative and effective year‑round Group Exercise program schedule. Actively participates in management team meetings and committees as assigned. Ensures all areas of the Wellness department are maintained to the CCA YMCA standards and addresses all safety concerns immediately with the appropriate person/department. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations. Promotes program and membership enrollment in interactions with existing and potential members. Coordinates program registration, including logistics to support phone, walk‑in, and web registration. Responds to member and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner. Ensures that all equipment in the Wellness Centers is in good working order and addresses all concerns with the appropriate parties immediately (i.e., vendor, facility maintenance). Ensures that all preventive maintenance is being performed as needed by working with the appropriate parties (i.e., vendors, facility maintenance). Ensures proper implementation of front desk procedures. Reviews and updates desk procedures and communicates changes to staff. Coordinates with the business office as necessary on financial transactions. Covers shifts as needed in the department. Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, or a health‑related field. Minimum of 5 years’ experience in sales. Minimum of 5 years’ experience in leading and supervising a staff team. A demonstrated track record of generating leads and closing sales. Experience in group exercise with a Personal Training Certification through a nationally recognized and/or accredited organization (YMCA of the USA, ACE, NASM, ACSM, etc.). Excellent written and verbal skills. Excellent customer service skills. Must have or obtain CPR/AED/First Aid certifications within 60 days of employment. Basic computer skills including email, spreadsheets, and internet‑based programs. Must have the availability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community. Bi‑lateral preferred.
