Responsibilities The Stationary Operations Engineer is responsible for overseeing and maintaining all stationary equipment within our facility, ensuring its optimal operation and safety. This role requires an in‑depth understanding of the machinery, routine check‑ups, troubleshooting, and efficient repair methods. Maintenance and Operation: Safely operate, maintain, and monitor boilers, HVAC systems, refrigeration units, and other stationary equipment. Must be experienced in maintenance and repairs on Commercial‑Industrial building equipment to include but not limited to: chillers =/+500 tons, boilers, pumps, control systems, air handlers, cooling towers, heat exchangers, VAV's and VFD's. Candidates must be able to demonstrate practical knowledge of Chiller Plant Operations, be able to read and understand blueprints, schematics, and specifications, and demonstrate practical knowledge of building air systems. The ability to respond to service calls of the gas‑fired boilers, Chillers, AHU, fire pumps, generators, UPS, ATS, BAS, and Fire Alarm operations. Routine Inspections: Conduct regular inspections to identify potential issues, ensuring equipment is operating within set parameters and adhering to safety standards. Respond to service calls: Determine the problem, identify the cause, implement a solution, complete required documentation using the site CMMS system, observe and interpret readings on gauges, meters, and charts, adjust controls, record logs, and perform preventive maintenance per approved job plans. Troubleshooting: Diagnose malfunctioning systems and components, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions. Documentation: Maintain detailed records of all inspections, maintenance activities, repairs, and replacements. Ensure all operations are logged and documented in compliance with organizational standards. Compliance: Ensure operations adhere to all local, state, and federal regulations and standards related to stationary equipment operations. Collaboration: Coordinate with other maintenance, operations, and engineering teams to ensure seamless operation and timely resolution of issues. Relay questions, progress, and discrepancies; initiate follow‑up action if required in a timely manner. Emergency Response: Act as a first responder during any stationary equipment emergencies, implementing safety procedures and addressing issues promptly. Continuous Learning: Stay updated with the latest trends, equipment, and best practices in the field, attending workshops and training as necessary. Qualifications Minimum 10+ years of relevant experience; high school diploma or GED. Active TS/SCI Poly required. DC 1st Class Engineering License required. Candidate Expectations Familiarity with the operations, maintenance, and repair of boilers, HVAC systems, refrigeration units, etc. Strong problem‑solving skills. Excellent communication abilities, both written and verbal. Ability to read and interpret technical documentation including sequence of operations, technical product literature, programming manuals, and specifications. Knowledge of building mechanical and electrical equipment functions and use, HVAC systems controls applications. Relocate a 12‑foot stepladder without assistance. Work at various heights up to 60 feet and can climb and maintain balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks and all types of ladders. Walk, climb, lift, squat, crawl, kneel, push, pull, and reach overhead on a routine and repetitive basis. Possess good vision (may be corrected) and the ability to see in color; also able to hear and communicate in English. May use a standard ladder without exceeding the weight limit while carrying tools. Recognize when something is wrong or likely to go wrong.
