Assistant Vice President - Allied Health Underwriter

to join our

Sompo North America Healthcare

team.

The location of the position is Chicago, IL.

The Underwriter will have a thorough understanding of Sompo’s strategies and appetites and will use internal and external data to make appropriate individual and portfolio risk decisions. The Underwriter is responsible for the profitable growth of an assigned book of business, utilizing underwriting policies and guidelines, rating manual rules and insurance laws and regulations. The open position is responsible for a book of business working with miscellaneous healthcare facilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Underwriting Miscellenous Healthcare which consists of Healthcare Profesional Liability, General Liability, and other ancillary lines for primary, Umbrella, and Excess risks Ability to evaluate all individual risk characteristics and properly determine capacity, attachment point, terms and pricing. This includes understanding pricing components and rating methodology as well as use of the predictive modeling tools Fosters and utilizes expertise within the company including claims, actuarial, and business development Maintain and enhance existing broker relationships as well as identify and develop new relationships within the Midwest region with both retail and wholesale partners Drives effective relationship management and customer activities to build trust, facilitate negotiation and secure commitment with the customer Proactively identifies cross-sell opportunities and partners with other underwriters to deliver comprehensive insurance solutions for the customer Qualifications: Established relationships with Retail and Wholesale Network Minimum of 7 years of Professional lines Underwriting Experience Excellent oral and written communication skills Strong analytical and organizational skills Ability to travel approximate 10% of the time Sompo International offers a competitive compensation and benefits package commensurate with experience.
