Duties and Responsibilities for the Surgical Technologist include but are not exclusive to:
* Handle sterile linen, instruments, supplies and maintain aseptic technique at all times.
* Assist in setting up the operating room for surgical procedures.
* Assist in keeping accurate sponge and needle counts and proper handling of specimens.
* Scrub on all types of surgical procedures assigned.
* Handle sterile implants.
Experience/Educational Requirements:
1. Graduate of a CAAHEP or ABHES accredited program and holds and maintains a Certified Surgical Technologist certification (has successfully completed a nationally accredited educational program for surgical technologist and holds and maintains a certified surgical technologist credential administered by a nationally accredited surgical technologist credentialing organization.
2. Completed a military surgical technology program.
3. Can provide evidence he or she was employed as a surgical technologist in a healthcare facility for a cumulative period of one year, occurring within the four years immediately prior to January 1, 2015.
Twelve months operating room experience working as a surgical technologist is preferred.
