We are looking for a dedicated CT Technologist like you to be a part of our team.Job Summary And QualificationsWhat you will do in this role:Responsible for the care and safety of patients undergoing treatment and use of equipment to minimize hazards of electric shock, burns and extraneous radiation to patients.Determines the most suitable anatomical posture and positions and shields patients accordingly.Practices medical and surgical aseptic procedures.Works under the direction of the Radiologist at all times.Takes x-ray, CT call according to monthly schedule after the closing of regular department hours.Competent in the use of CR and PACS.Assesses, evaluates and informs physician of changes in patient’s condition during an exam.Completes all work before leaving including checking with the nurses’ stations, ER, Surgery, holding, etc.Performs all quality control checks, as prescribed.Maintains accurate QC logs, service records, etc.Performs highest quality imaging consistent with prescribed exam; documents any deviations.Understands contraindications and potential hazards of different exams.Interacts professionally with patient/family.Ascertains patient understanding of process and informed consent.Understands and practices proper use of all equipment; never operates equipment inconsistent with manufacturer’s instruction.Able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care based on physical, psychosocial, educational, safety and related criteria appropriate to the following age groups: neonate, pediatric, adolescent, geriatric and general population.Must be acquainted with local fire and safety regulations.Has knowledge of hospital policies and functions of other departments.Able to modify job duties and communicate with customers in an age appropriate manner.Appropriately assesses the patient’s pain and involves the patient in effective management of the pain using age appropriate interventions.Completes annual educational requirements.Maintains regulatory requirements.Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.Reports to work on time and as scheduled; completes work within designated time.Consistently completes and maintains assigned duties; maintains PAR levels.Wears identification while on duty; uses computerized punch time system correctly.Completes in-services and returns in a timely fashion.Attends annual review and departmental in-services, as scheduled.Attends required staff meetings.Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner.Actively participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement (CQI) activitiesBasic computer knowledge.Knowledge and understanding of general anatomy, physiology and medical terminologyA high level of cross-sectional anatomyProficiency with most major CT equipment manufacturers’ hardware and softwareWhat qualifications you will need:Registered Radiographer (ARRT) must be obtained within 90 days of employment start dateState Registered Radiologic TechnicianBasic Cardiac Life Support, or CPR for Healthcare Providers must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date1 year of radiologic/imaging experienceSpecific training and experience in CT preferred.Rapides Regional Medical Center is a 350+ bed hospital and ER in Alexandria, Louisiana.
