Working parents count on our programs to provide safe and enriching environments for their children.Summary:New York Edge is seeking passionate and enthusiastic people to fill the part-time role of after-school Academic Enrichment Coach. In this role, you will be critical to the successful operation of New York Edge's after-school program. You will be responsible for providing a safe and positive environment for school-age children and providing opportunities for learning, interaction, and academic/personal growth. Academic Enrichment Coaches also participate in activities and trips while providing and maintaining a safe working environment. They help with homework and prepare students to demonstrate newly acquired skills in Sports and Arts.Schedule:Part-TimeMonday – Friday2:30 pm – 5:30 pmThis role requires you to be in person.Pay:$17.00/hrJob Type:Part-TimeEssential Job Functions:Provide appropriate supervision at all times to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of program participants.Be an agent of safety for participants. This includes taking responsibility for one’s well-being and the well-being of others.Keep the immediate supervisor informed daily of any concerns regarding participants, staff, or the facility.Engage participants in meaningful activities, lesson plans, and special events that are structured, age-appropriate, fun, exciting, and challenging and based on values in the areas of arts, STEM, character development, literacy, creative expression, community service, physical fitness, and/or nutrition.Prepare the learning environment and necessary supplies for program activities. Assume responsibility for the cleanliness and organization of the camp room, program supplies, and activity space.Support the planning and implementation of all activities, including but not limited to learning initiatives, field trips, and culminating performances.Provide support to Activity Specialists with activity implementation.Create and maintain a strength-based, youth-focused atmosphere that is consistent and sensitive to the needs of participants with learning, emotional, or behavioral differences.Serve as a positive role model for participants.Develop and maintain positive relationships with parents and guardians through regular communication about their child’s strengths and areas of growth. Take a leadership role in providing regular updates to caregivers.Attend all required training sessions.
