The role will be based at the Royal Victoria Infirmary. This newly created role will primarily focus on Multiple Sclerosis Specialist Services, with additional responsibilities in headache, epilepsy and general neurology. The successful candidate will establish a new service, provide independent prescribing, lead cost‑saving interventions such as biosimilar switching, and work closely with medicines management and homecare teams.Key ResponsibilitiesEstablish and develop a new clinical pharmacy service within the Neurology speciality.Lead independent prescribing and oversee medication management for MS, headache, epilepsy and general neurology patients.Identify and deliver cost‑saving interventions (e.g., biosimilar switching).Lead medication switching into homecare and collaborate with homecare teams.Organise rotas, provide educational support to junior pharmacy staff and act as a role model.Lead ward‑based audits related to medicines management and governance.Provide professional prescribing services as a designated prescribing practitioner and manager as required.Support extended working hours, including late nights, weekends and bank holidays.Participate in strategic planning and service development in collaboration with the School of Pharmacy at Newcastle University.Essential Qualifications & EducationM Pharm (or equivalent) degree with pre‑registration training.Registered Pharmacist (GPhC).Clinical Diploma.Independent Prescriber.Desirable Qualifications & EducationClinical Masters.Knowledge & Experience - EssentialEvidence of continuous professional development (CPD).Well‑developed clinical pharmacy knowledge across all aspects of drug use.Knowledge of clinical audit and its role in pharmacy.Extensive post‑registration experience in hospital pharmacy, some at a senior level.Demonstrated involvement in clinical audit and a developing clinical role.Knowledge & Experience - DesirableSpecialist knowledge of the clinical area(s) or directorates involved.Awareness of the role and responsibilities of the pre‑registration pharmacist tutor.Demonstrated experience in a managerial role.Skills & Abilities - EssentialExcellent oral and written communication of specialist clinical information.One‑to‑one communication skills.Influencing and negotiating skills.Basic computer skills.Skills & Abilities - DesirableLecturing skills.Proficiency in Microsoft Office.Application ProcessAll references from current and previous employers covering a minimum of 3 years employment are required.
