The Doe Run company is seeking an Environmental Technician to support site(s) to ensure compliance with all applicable environmental regulations. Maintain required records for all environmental permits and plans. This position is located at Sweetwater in Ellington, MO.

Education & Experience:

  • Associate degree in environmental science, Biological Science, or related field; or equivalent experience (preferred).
  • Minimum 1 year of experience working in a lab or outdoor setting preferred.
  • Valid driver's license.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.), Database Technology (Pi, MS SQP Server, Access), Invoicing/Accounts Payable (DataServ), I-Series (LIMS), ETMS, PeopleSoft, HR Information system (Ultimate/UKG).
  • Basic skill in databases preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills (written & verbal).
Job Responsibilities:
  • Conduct environmental sampling including but not limited to air, water, groundwater, and waste sampling. Record and certify data.
  • Oversee handling and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous waste.
  • Provide assistance in the environmental management system through internal auditing, training, and technical site support.
  • Act as site team liaison with site personnel to implement environmental compliance plans and protocols to ensure compliance with all applicable environmental regulations and obligations including CWA, RCRA, SPCC, CAA, NPDES, PDW, ISO 14001, Agreements, and AOCs.
  • Maintain required records for all environmental permits and plans.
  • Complete tasks in a safe and environmentally compliant manner by following EHS (environmental, health, and safety) policies, procedures, and best practices; support and assist peers in working in a safe, compliant manner; report unsafe acts or conditions, incidents, and deviations; and provide feedback to support continuous improvement in EHS performance
  • Other duties as assigned.
Environmental Conditions, Physical & Lifting Requirements:
  • Frequently required to use computer/Tablet, drive personnel carriers and vehicles; Occasionally required to use non-powered and powered hand tools and equipment and use a phone/radio.
  • Regularly work in outdoor weather conditions; Occasionally work in wet, humid conditions (non-weather), work at heights of 4 feet or more with fall protection; Rarely required to work in confined spaces, work underground, exposed to vibrations, wear a respirator, and work near moving mechanical parts. Exposed to moderate noise.
  • Regularly required to sit, talk, hear, feel attributes of objects, and grasp. Frequently required to stand, walk, drive, and reach with hands; Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, crouch, or balance; Rarely, required to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, balance, push, or perform repetitive wrist, hand, and/or finger movement. Requires clarity of vision at 20 feet or more or 20 inches or less, three-dimensional vision, and the ability to identify and distinguish colors. Precise hand-eye coordination. Requires concentrated attention.
  • Regularly required to lift up to 5 pounds. Frequently required to lift 6-50 pounds, Occasionally required to lift up to 75 pounds.
