Position Overview: Director of Information Security

We are seeking an exceptional leader to oversee the creation, execution, and ongoing assessment of a robust enterprise information security and cybersecurity initiative. The role focuses on safeguarding our information and data assets, alongside our technological infrastructure, from both internal and external vulnerabilities. You'll be responsible for planning and deploying security software and hardware, ensuring that our IT and network infrastructure aligns with industry best practices. Staying informed about potential security threats, you'll conduct real-time threat analyses and proactively work to mitigate risks. This role also involves developing threat models, establishing application security protocols, and crafting resolution strategies. You'll collaborate across departments to identify and rectify security findings while ensuring the alignment of security policies with business processes. Additional responsibilities include training staff on security measures, procuring necessary security solutions, and ensuring compliance to security practices. Regular evaluation of system vulnerabilities and recommendations for enhancements will be key components of this position.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and oversee a comprehensive enterprise information security and IT risk management framework.
  • Collaborate with business units to conduct risk assessments and facilitate risk management efforts.
  • Enhance the information security management framework to ensure robust governance.
  • Engage with related domains through committees to promote consistent policy application across all technology-related projects and services.
  • Lead the organization's information security team.
  • Partner with stakeholders to elevate awareness and responsiveness regarding risk management issues.
  • Contribute to technology planning by providing insight into current and future technology needs.
  • Document and manage information security policies and procedures as set forth by the organization's information security committee, coordinating committee activities accordingly.
  • Collect and organize technical insights related to the organization's mission, existing security assets, and ongoing security initiatives.
  • Initiate and promote activities that build an organizational culture of security awareness and continuous training.
  • Evaluate systems, assess associated risks, and aid in devising, engineering, and implementing information security solutions.
  • Conduct assessments of information security and act as an internal consultant for related security challenges.
  • Support third-party audit engagements as needed.
  • Oversee the security budget, ensuring resources are allocated efficiently.
  • Prepare and manage various security status reports and documentation.
  • Undertake additional tasks as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field (such as information security).
  • At least 10 years of related experience in risk management, information security, and IT management roles.
  • Experience in formulating IS strategies and policies in diverse organizational settings supported by multi-platform environments.
  • Proficiency in security assessments and incident response within an evolving IT landscape.
  • Familiarity with widely recognized information security management frameworks, including ISO/IEC 27001 and NIST.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills coupled with a high level of personal integrity.
  • Innovative leader with the ability to inspire and guide cross-functional teams.
  • Experience in contract negotiations and vendor management, particularly in managed services.
  • Background in Agile (scaled) development methodologies or other leading-edge development practices.
  • Experience in auditing or evaluating complex IT control environments.
  • Availability to obtain or currently hold certifications such as CISM, CISSP, or CISA is preferred.
