Humana is seeking a Senior Responsible AI Data Scientist to champion the ethical development of artificial intelligence across our organization. This highly cross‑functional position requires deep technical expertise in AI and machine learning, as well as a passion for advancing Responsible AI initiatives through collaboration with diverse stakeholders across the enterprise, including legal, compliance, education, and IT. Key Responsibilities Support initiatives to ensure responsible use of AI across the enterprise, including model risk assessments, fairness evaluations, and compliance with ethical and regulatory standards. Drive and contribute to R&D efforts to advance innovative, high‑impact, and ethically‑grounded AI solutions in healthcare. Design and implement processes, tools, and frameworks for the evaluation, monitoring, and documentation of AI systems to ensure ongoing compliance with ethical and regulatory standards. Stay current with emerging research, regulations, and industry best practices in Responsible AI, translating learnings into actionable recommendations for Humana’s AI ecosystem. Partner cross‑functionally with legal, compliance, IT, education, and other teams to operationalize Responsible AI principles throughout the organization. Support and help evolve Humana’s Responsible AI governance initiatives, policies, and standards. Serve as an internal consultant and subject matter expert on Responsible AI topics such as fairness, transparency, privacy, safety, and risk mitigation. Facilitate Responsible AI education and awareness initiatives, including the development of training materials and guidance for technical and non‑technical stakeholders. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of experience, Master’s degree with 3+ years of experience, or PhD in a quantitative field. Proficiency in developing Python software tools and applications for data scientists. Demonstrated proficiency in applying software development best practices, including code versioning, testing, documentation, and secure coding standards. Extensive hands‑on experience developing and deploying Generative AI and traditional machine learning applications at scale. Experience with analysis of structured and unstructured data, and building end‑to‑end analytical workflows. Demonstrated experience developing tools, frameworks, or processes that operationalize Responsible AI principles (e.g., fairness, transparency, privacy, safety, accountability) in real‑world projects. Proven ability to collaborate with cross‑functional teams to address complex governance challenges. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical and ethical considerations to non‑technical stakeholders. Preferred Qualifications Prior experience working in healthcare, health tech, or highly regulated industries. Record of publication or thought leadership in Responsible AI or related fields. Additional Information Location / Work Style Remote US. Work at Home Guidance Internet service must provide at least 25 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload; wireless, wired cable, or DSL connections are acceptable. Satellite, cellular, and microwave connections may be used only if approved by leadership. Associates living in California, Illinois, Montana, or South Dakota will receive a bi‑weekly payment for internet expenses. Humana will provide telephone equipment as needed for the position. Pay may vary based on geographic location and experience.
