OverviewThe Senior Environmental Consultant is responsible for the provision of environmental services during an emergency response and on non-ER projects. They will work closely with the client and regulators to evaluate environmental concerns and to identify environmental data, documentation, and advisory needs during a project. The Senior Environmental Consultant will typically assume key roles in the field and/or command post, including Project Manager, Project Technical Director, Environmental Unit Lead, or Technical Specialist roles. They will provide technical advice and documentation to the client and coordinate with field personnel, data managers, project managers, project technical directors, and quality managers to ensure quality environmental data and reporting. They will provide onsite coaching and training to field and command post personnel to ensure necessary tasks are conducted competently and to a high degree of quality. They will assist and work closely with CTEH ER leadership to ensure environmental response preparedness through internal training development and delivery, development of internal documentation, and maintenance of environmental equipment. They will support client preparedness through training and participation in exercises and drills, as well as coordinate with the Sales team to grow CTEH’s environmental services. They will support CTEH ER Leadership in business development and service growth. They may manage and develop a team of Consultants at varying skill levels reporting directly to them. All Senior Environmental Consultants shall maintain a response bag with company issued PPE and appropriate work clothing. This role is also subject to on-call rotation for emergency response and frequent, extended travel. The on-call rotation duties may extend to satellite offices as necessary. Travel on a moment’s notice may extend further than just the on-call rotation i.e. in the event a response requires more CTEH staffing support.Job Type: Full-timeSalary: Commensurate with experienceLocation: Flexible locationsACTIVITIES/TASKS/SCOPEPerforms as an environmental consultant on environmental response and projects with some oversight and may also act as a Project Manager and/or Project Technical Director, when deemed appropriate.Assumes key environmental roles during responses and projects, coordinating closely with client and agency personnel.Prepares written work plans and other environmental unit/project deliverables; and ensures they are followed in the field.Works with the client to right-size the project by identifying resources needed.Coordinates with project managers/coordinators and logistics managers to identify and provide suitable field and command post resources for a response/project.Coordinates with project managers, project technical directors, data managers, and quality managers to ensure data deliverables are timely and of high quality.Supports internal preparedness, including the development and delivery of response training, identification of equipment needs, environmental equipment maintenance, and development of documents and templates.Provides training and other technical consulting to clients relative to their expertise.Serves in “On-Call” role to maintain response readiness of the team, as well as responding on the initial response with the “on-call” team for high profile, complex incidents or as deemed needed by CTEH ER Leadership.Supports all levels of Emergency Response Division to include but not limited to, TERP, Environmental and Response Management Programs to ensure all levels of Emergency Responses and projects are staffed, trained and response ready.Maintain compliance with the company’s environmental, health, and safety policies and all applicable client, state, federal, and local environmental rules, policies, and regulations.Performs such other duties as assigned.Required Technical SpecialtiesThree or more of the following: Environmental assessment, Environmental Unit Lead/Technical Specialist, Waste characterization and management, Natural Resource Damage Assessment, Net Environmental Benefit Analysis, Risk/environmental impact assessment, Remediation.EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & CREDENTIALSRequired: Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, chemistry, biology, geology, or other related science, plus a minimum of eight + years of additional field experience.Preferred: Master’s degree in environmental science, chemistry, biology, geology, or other related scienceRequired: Advanced computer skills in a Windows-based platform.Required: Project management experience, preferably in emergency response.Recognized environmental certification, such as REM, CEP, or CHMM.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIESAbility to work within a matrix reporting structure, recognizing value and diversity of the organization.Ability to understand and follow written and verbal directions and communicate at a professional level in the English language.Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.Strong leadership and critical thinking skills.
