Position Summary:

Leslie Controls, Inc. is seeking a Senior Supply Quality Engineer to lead supplier quality initiatives, ensuring that products and processes meet strict internal and external specifications. This role is crucial for enhancing supplier performance and maintaining compliance with industry standards. You will oversee the validation of supplier processes, manage the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), and drive continuous improvement to reduce costs and improve quality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supplier Quality Management: Implement and maintain supplier and component systems to comply with ISO standards. Conduct routine and qualification audits at supplier sites, ensuring modifications are documented and compliance is verified.

  • Incoming Product Control: Establish and verify systems for the control and inspection of incoming products, ensuring they meet ISO standards and company requirements.

  • Lean/Six Sigma Initiatives: Support and lead Lean/Six Sigma projects aimed at reducing variability, improving product quality, and lowering the cost of incoming components.

  • Supplier Performance Monitoring: Develop and maintain supplier scorecards to track performance statistics. Communicate results both internally and externally to drive continuous improvement.

  • PPAP and Compliance: Initiate and review PPAP documentation to ensure supplier compliance with ISO 9001 and internal procedures. Oversee Supplier Change Requests (SCR) and Supplier Proposed Process Changes (SPPC).

  • Design and Process Review: Collaborate with suppliers to review design drawings and processes, ensuring they meet inspect-ability and compliance requirements. Assist with process validations and protocol execution as needed.

  • Inspection and Validation: Evaluate supplier processes and determine appropriate inspection plans based on performance. Provide training and support to supplier quality personnel on inspection techniques and equipment usage.

  • Corrective and Preventive Actions: Initiate and oversee corrective and preventive actions with suppliers, ensuring issues are effectively resolved.

  • Cross-Functional Support: Work closely with manufacturing, engineering, quality assurance, and quality control teams to support process validation and quality assurance activities.

  • Additional Duties: Perform other job-related tasks as assigned by management.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education & Experience:

    • Bachelor's degree in Engineering with 10+ years of experience in a quality-related field, or 10+ years of progressive experience in quality systems and supplier quality development within a manufacturing environment.

    • Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) experience of 2+ years is required.

    • Preferred certifications: AWS, ASNT, NACE, ASME.

  • Technical Skills:

    • Extensive knowledge of manufacturing operations, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, inspection metrology, and the application of automated measuring equipment.

    • Proficiency in statistical quality assurance methods, including control plans, failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA), and various problem-solving tools such as 8D, Pareto analysis, and Ishikawa diagrams.

    • Experience with design, mechanical integrity, process control, project management, assembly, and machining.

  • Soft Skills:

    • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to create technical documents and reports.

    • Excellent problem-solving abilities with a focus on root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.

    • High ethical standards and a commitment to modeling the organization's goals and values.

  • Additional Requirements:

    • Knowledge of a high mix, low volume manufacturing environment is a plus.

    • Familiarity with Mil Spec Standards.

    • U.S. Citizenship required.
