Histology Technician – Dermatology
*Temp to hire
Ideal candidate is someone on a gap year before PA school and has a background in STEM, Bio, or Chem. Plus if they have prior Derm experience. Must have prior Medical Assistant experience to be considered.
Location: Portsmouth, New Hampshire
Pay: $30 – $35 DOE
Schedule: 7 – 4/5pm Monday to Friday
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Associate’s Degree in science related field is preferred.
HT/L ASCP certification or completion of Histology Technician training course and eligible to sit for the exam is required. Certification required within 1 year of hire.
Will accept a candidate with a BA ScienceAs long as they have 24 science credits
Will need to pull transcripts to ensure they can be cleared
Would take someone with path lab/pathology experience
2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area is preferred.
Ability to differentiate between all colors is required
Prior surgical experience preferred
MOHS experience highly preferred but not required
Duties include:
Perform complex histological procedures and techniques such as grossing, cutting, staining, drying and freezing to preserve and test the samples.
Prepare tissue specimens for routine and special procedures to obtain a patient diagnosis.
Record and analyze data.
Prepare media, chemicals, reagents and solutions.
Preserve and store samples.
Maintain, clean, and repair equipment and instruments.
Establish and monitor quality control programs
