Primary ResponsibilitiesTo assist in the performance of quality, caring clinical dentistry; to become adept at assignedclinical and technical procedures; to aid the doctor smoothly and unobstructive. Performclinical and technical procedures under the supervision of a licensed dentist. The assistantprepares the patient, operatory and equipment to assist the doctor during examinations andtreatment. Maintain awareness of comfort and safety needs of patients. Maintain equipmentand inventory. Adhere to all required OSHA and health regulations.Patient ManagementInteract in a positive manner with patients at all timesShow care and concern, and help patients feel comfortableMaintain a pleasant, caring, people-oriented team attitude at all timesEscort patients to and from treatment room/chairReview with patient, or parent, areas where improvement is needed and give progress updates regarding treatment Give patient instructions and demonstrate when necessaryEnsure patients' questions are answered thoroughly before they leavePerform patient care callsClinicalAssist the orthodontist in the delivery of patient careUnderstand basic dental terminology and learn practice specific termsEvaluate patient oral hygiene and cooperation at appointmentsTake impressions for study molds and appliancesFollow laboratory and sterilization procedures according to office protocolPrepare teeth for bonding and assist doctor with bondingRemove, size, and place arch wires to extent allowed by certificationsWork in a fast pace environment, while multi-tasking and learning quicklyRequired to complete Orthodontics Assistant Permit CourseRecord managementPerform Electronic patient charting in Orthodontic software and ensure patient charts are complete and include necessary forms before performing treatmentTake patients records (photos, pano, ceph)Handle patient information in compliance with legal requirements, including HIPPA regulationsCommunicationsMaintain Confidentiality of business and client informationMaintain open communication with the Doctor9s), patients, Front Desk, and Office ManagerInventory / Maintenance ManagementClean / Sanitize instruments without cross contaminationKeep dental units ready, stocked and cleanMonitor inventory and alert the office manager to order supplies as neededMaintain a welcoming an attractive office environmentSales & MarketingAssist the marketing team in both internal and external marketing initiativesStaff a minimum of two marketing events per quarterRepresent the company throughout the communityOffice ParticipationBe an active participant in team meetings, trainings, team building events, etc.Agree to, and work by, the team principles outlined in your training packetPerform other tasks as assigned by management and the doctorRequirementsPhysical and Environmental requirementsMay be required to lift up to 40 poundsActive movement throughout the day: sitting, walking, standing, squatting, bending, stooping, reaching, etc. (not a sedentary position)Vision: close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focusHearing: able to satisfactory communicate with patients, doctor, and other staff members to ensure verbal communication is clearly under satisfactory - equivalent method of communicationFinger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard or operate equipmentMay be required to administer CPROccasional exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals and radiation Salary Description 20
