Job Summary Responsible for the supervision of exempt and non‑exempt warehouse staff and assists with drivers. Responsible for ensuring that all activities for the Distribution Center are completed in a timely, accurate and cost‑effective manner. This includes receiving, warehousing, shipping and delivery of pet foods and accessories. Also responsible for the hiring, training and development of warehouse personnel. Must provide support to the site leadership to meet P&L budget and established KPI’s. Standard work schedule for this role is expected to be Monday through Friday, starting at 5:00pm until completion of the shift. Essential Functions Oversee all personnel management, including recruitment, hiring, training, directing, developing, scheduling and disciplining employees. Provide new hires with a comprehensive onboarding and training process, complete 30‑60‑90 day performance reviews, provide continual coaching and development, review and approve hourly employee timesheets and bonuses, track attendance, issue corrective action as warranted and report work injuries. Notify management and HR of any high‑level concerns. Promote a safe and efficient work environment for all employees. Maintain knowledge of systems, processes and general business activities; perform root‑cause analysis, solve problems and hold teams accountable. Own the implementation of new processes and tools, lead training and ensure operational proficiency. Lead operations with a constant‑improvement mindset. Work with managers, supervisors and cross‑functional teams to develop, implement and administer policies, procedures and controls to increase safety, service level, profits, employee engagement/retention and efficiency. Plan, organize and implement a long‑term plan to maintain distribution efficiency and leadership stability with business growth. Partner with other operation team leaders to meet site, business unit and company objectives. Assist operations leaders in budgeting and establishing cost‑control measures to operate profitably. Responsible for achieving monthly and annual budget goals. Communicate with stakeholders including sales, customer experience, HR and employees in a professional and timely manner to solve problems and share information. Meet all KPI requirements including fill rate, on‑time delivery, inventory accuracy and employee retention/turnover. Meet all requirements of Direct‑to‑Consumer partner service level agreements (SLAs). Assist other operations leaders in developing, implementing and administering a comprehensive pest management program to ensure safety and integrity of pet food products in accordance with Central Pet Distribution, vendor partnerships, AIB and FISA guidelines. Ensure operations are in compliance with federal, state and local laws and regulations, including OSHA and the Department of Transportation. Active member of the Safety Committee and promote a safety culture, scheduling quarterly meetings, walk‑through inspections, and ensuring the safety of all employees, guests and vendors. Ensure timely and accurate completion of all necessary reports and paperwork related to customers, vendors and government agencies. Coordinate daily, weekly, monthly and annual vendor activities including SAP activities, daily lot and inventory control, monthly inventory reconciliation, cycle count program and physical inventory count. Report maintenance needs for the facility, material handling equipment and vehicle fleet to your manager. Assist operations leaders in developing, implementing and maintaining an integrated route delivery system. Communicate operational or personnel issues to your manager and involve HR on personnel concerns. Maintain regular attendance and presence on site. Submit productivity and metric reporting in a timely manner. Maintain constant compliance with all quality systems for the warehouse, including AIB standards and GDPs, and manage quality processes such as hold requests and mock recoveries. Incorporate company values into all job aspects. Perform other duties as directed by manager. Qualifications Required Bachelor’s degree in operations management or logistics preferred, and 3‑5 years of previous management experience in a fast‑paced, high volume distribution environment. Previous experience managing a route delivery system and extensive experience with common carriers and UPS. Excellent computer skills and experience with warehouse and transportation management systems. Understand, abide by, and enforce all company policies and procedures. Excellent analytical and planning skills, proactive in problem prevention. Certified in the operation of all warehouse equipment including forklifts, pallet jacks and shrink wrap machines. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Excellent interpersonal and management skills to develop, direct and discipline staff. Effective verbal and written communication skills in English. Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division). Ability to meet deadlines, work under pressure and adapt to changing demands. Flexible to work overtime on short notice; position requires working until the job is complete. Strong problem‑solving, organization and attention to detail. Team oriented and able to work independently with little supervision. Ability to develop and document processes and procedures. Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to perform the physical requirements of all warehouse positions and maintain a constant state of alertness and safety. Qualifications Preferred Previous forklift certification. Previous delivery, routing, material handling experience and warehouse sanitation programs. Experience in a continuous improvement environment (Lean or Six Sigma).
