We welcome applications from qualified candidates who require work authorization.Job DescriptionThe Associate Director will be a tenured Full or Associate Professor in the Center. The Associate Director will collaborate with the Executive Director on all matters pertaining to the execution of the Center’s mission. Working with the Executive Director of the Center, the Associate Director develops and oversees all plans and programs for the Center. This includes its (1) core academic programming, faculty hiring and supervision, curricular and course development, and student recruitment; (2) its co-curricular programming such as conferences, symposia, and other public-facing events, as well as its research and grant programs. The Associate Director will hire and supervise Center staff and be responsible for administering the Center's budget. When needed, the Associate Director will represent the Executive Director at functions and events, including for development. The Associate Director will have the assistance of the Center's Assistant Directors, Project Manager, and other support staff. The Associate Director will teach, research and publish. The Associate Director will teach courses on a reduced load as consistent with his or her other duties. The Associate Director will publish research and make contributions to an academic discipline related to the Center’s mission; maintain contacts with outside scholars relevant to the Center’s mission; and maintain contacts with leaders at programs, departments, and institutes across the higher education landscape whose missions resemble the Center’s mission.Performance ObjectivesContribute and demonstrate a commitment to the Center’s statutory mission through administration, research, teaching, and service.Build the Center into an academic community that secures its mission through excellent teaching, research and scholarship, and service.Work collaboratively and in a coordinated way with the Center’s Executive Director.Develop and effectively teach courses that advance the Center’s mission.Demonstrate the ability to work independently, proactively handle issues, and make decisions benefiting the Center.Demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills.Demonstrate organization, attention to detail, and ability to respond to deadlines in a timely manner.Demonstrate poise, professionalism, and good judgment.Flexibility to adapt to changing goals and priorities.Regular in-person attendance.Minimum QualificationsPh.D., J.D., or other terminal degree in a field related to the Center’s mission.Record of developing and effectively teaching courses that will advance the Center’s mission.Record of publishing high-quality scholarship in academic outlets in the faculty member’s discipline and other public facing outlets.Prior professional experience developing programming consistent with the Center’s mission, including (but not limited to) developing curriculum, activities that promote research productivity and innovation, academic community building, and activities that engage students and other community members.Consideration Will Be Given To Candidates WithExperience in program administration in a higher education setting.Experience developing a young academic or professional program or organization.Experience engaging in development activities.Excellent management and organizational skills—task oriented and deadline conscious.Flexibility to adapt to changing goals and priorities.Ability to independently assess, respond to, and follow up on inquiries, and advise faculty, students, donors, and guests.
