The Panel Builder role starting pay varies based on the experience and skill brought to the role by the candidate and ranges between $20 - $23.75 with advancement opportunity based on performance within the department.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Panel Shop Team Leader, this position will be responsible for the construction of basic electrical control panels in a safe and timely manner with the intent of improving electrical abilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Drill, tap, cut and grind electrical enclosures and back panels.
- Build basic electrical systems including, but not limited to control stations, and junction boxes.
- Ability to learn how to proficiently interpret data from electrical and mechanical diagrams and schematics.
- Use basic electrical test equipment.
- Run electrical wires in the most effective route to minimize wire used and for uniformity and neatness.
- Regular attendance in accordance with the attendance policy.
- Conduct activities in a safe and healthy manner and work in accordance with established safety and company requirements.
- Provide personal tools according to the department tool list.
- Perform set-up, material handling duties, and minor general maintenance.
- Responsible for area housekeeping.
- Participate in the processes of continuous improvement including efforts to meet company smart goals.
- Promote a positive working environment in order to achieve the organization's goals.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed in an uncontrolled atmosphere. Exposure to harsh conditions-such as: dust, fumes, chemicals, hazardous materials, noise, and varying weather and temperatures. Potential exposure to jobsites both domestically and internationally; living accommodations in some foreign assignments may not meet expected U.S. standards.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential function of this job. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, lift, push, pull, use hands and fingers, grip, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and talk and hear. Ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 60 pounds occasionally, 35 pounds frequently, and 10 pounds constantly. Must be able to stand 90% of the time and walk 10% of the time.
SKILL/ KNOWLEDGE/ ABILITY/ EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. is required.
- Associates Degree in Electrical, Control Systems Technology, or a related field is preferred but not required.
- Zero (0)-Two (2) years of electrical experience is preferred but not required.
- High attention to detail.
- Must work well under pressure.
- Strong math skills are preferred.
- Experience with hand held tools and assembling parts is required.
- Must possess the ability to interact effectively with all levels of personnel, both hourly and management, in a team environment.
- Ability to work flexible hours including, but not limited to, frequent and mandatory overtime, weekends, and some holidays are required.
