The 56,000 square-foot emergency department is one of the largest and busiest in California We have an 84-bed Level III NICU and plan to significantly expand pediatric specialty care. Our hospital serves 2.We're affiliated with UCSF as a teaching facility; trained 3,000 Medical Doctor's to date plus continuous invests in research and training grants. The RN ECMO Specialist is a technical specialist trained to manage the ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation) system and the clinical needs of the patient under the direction and supervision of a licensed ECMO trained physician. This includes the management and monitoring of the ECMO machine, as well as, circuit management and medical and mechanical emergencies. The ECMO Specialist will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality care and ensure the best outcomes for critically ill patients. Education
• High School Diploma, High School Equivalency (HSE) or Completion of a CHS Approved Individualized Education Plan (IEP) Certificate required
• Bachelor's Degree or higher in a healthcare-related field OR maintains national certification related to nursing specialty required
o Healthcare-related degrees may be subject to approval by the ACNO/CNO group prior to approval
o Certificate of Completion of ECMO Management training course with documented necessary skills as an ECMO Specialist that is validated by the Medical Director required
Experience
• Consistent demonstration of proficient clinical nursing practice proficiency required
• Experience in critical care, with specific experience in ECMO required
Licenses and Certifications
• RN - Current and valid Registered Nurse license to work within the state of California required
• BLS - Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers by American Heart Association (AHA) required
• NATIONAL - National Certification related to specialty and applicable to role (if qualifying with this option) required
• One of the following is preferred
o CCRN - Certified Critical Care Registered Nurse
o CES-A - Adult Certified ECMO Specialist
