Reports To: Medical Director

POSITION SUMMARY

The Charge Nurse (RN) will provide clinical leadership within the Medical Department by supervising Medical Assistants, overseeing patient triage calls and visits, and ensuring high-quality patient care. This role requires a collaborative approach to optimize patient outcomes, support staff development, and uphold compliance with organizational policies and national healthcare standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Patient Care Coordination

* Coordinate and oversee patient triage calls, assessing the urgency and nature of patient concerns to determine appropriate care pathways.
* Provide clinical support during patient visits, including advanced nursing assessments, wound care, immunizations, and health education.
* Collaborate with providers to develop and implement patient care plans.

Supervision & Leadership

* Supervise Medical Assistants, including assigning daily tasks, monitoring performance, and providing ongoing coaching and feedback.
* Conduct regular team huddles and ensure efficient workflow within the medical team.
* Assist in onboarding and training new Medical Assistants to ensure competency and alignment with organizational standards.

Program Development & Quality Improvement

* Monitor clinical processes to ensure compliance with GPRA, UDS, and NCQA standards.
* Partner with the Quality Improvement (QI) team to identify and address areas for improvement in patient care and clinic operations.
* Contribute to developing and implementing protocols, policies, and procedures.

Administrative Duties

* Maintain accurate documentation in patient records, including triage notes and care provided.
* Oversee inventory and ensure adequate supplies and equipment are available for clinic operations.
* Prepare reports on team performance, patient outcomes, and clinical activities.

Cultural Competency

* Deliver culturally sensitive and respectful care, aligning with the mission of serving diverse populations, including Native American communities.
* Provide training to staff on cultural competency in healthcare.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Certification

* Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington.
* Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
* Current BLS/CPR certification required.

Experience

* Minimum of 3 years of clinical nursing experience, including 1 year in a supervisory or leadership role.
* Experience in primary care or community health settings preferred.

Skills & Competencies

* Strong clinical assessment and triage skills.
* Excellent leadership and team-building abilities.
* Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems.
* Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.

WORKING CONDITIONS

* Work is performed in a clinic setting with extended periods of standing, walking, and interacting with patients and staff.
* May require occasional evening or weekend hours for special projects or patient needs.
