JOB TITLE: Property/Maintenance I (Full Time and Part Time)
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
JOB PURPOSE:
The Property/Maintenance I position will be responsible for assigned custodial, landscaping and maintenance work necessary to carry out Resurrection Lutheran Church’s (RLC) mission and ministries.
RESPONSIBILITIES will include but not limited to:
1. Performs general cleaning and janitorial duties in the Administration Building, Worship Center, Nursery and Outreach Building.
2. Performs minor repairs and maintenance to all Church campus facilities and equipment.
3. Performs grounds maintenance and ensures irrigation system is working efficiently
4. Assists in examining facilities and grounds for safety hazards and reports deficiencies to Property Manager.
5. Supports staff on scheduled events ensuring that the facility/room is set-up and taken-down in a timely manner and in accordance with directions.
6. Responds to calls from contracted security system.
7. Communicates with those using the RLC campus in a manner that reflects the ministry and mission of RLC.
8. Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
1. High School Diploma or GED.
2. A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in building maintenance.
SKILLS AND TALENTS:
1. Basic knowledge of cleaning and sanitizing solutions, equipment, agents and methods.
2. Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing and painting principles and skills.
3. Ability to perform basic repairs and operate tools or equipment used in routine maintenance.
4. Detail-oriented and thorough, a self-starter, conscientious and ability to work independently.
5. Ability to be flexible in work schedule to accommodate the requirements of Church activities throughout the week.
6. Ability to interact with members of the congregation, staff, parents and students, and visitors while remaining professional, polities and courteous
7. Must pass a background check.
8. Valid driver’s license and insured.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Must be available to work variable hours including weekends and evenings.
- Employees are expected to attend either a Saturday evening service or a Sunday morning service a minimum of six (6) times a year to engage with the congregation.
- Employees are expected to be available for services and special events during Holy Week and Christmas Week.
c. Employees are encouraged to be available for special events including but not limited to Fall Festival, Synod Assembly (when hosted by RLC) and Installations.
2. Work is performed inside and outside in all weather conditions, including extreme heat with temperatures exceeding 100 degrees.
3. Work may be performed in areas of poor ventilation, in small and enclosed spaces, in noisy environments and/or in an office environment.
4. Must be able to ascend or descend ladders, stairs and scaffolding.
5. Must be able to move self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces.
6. Must be able to move about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another constantly.
7. Must be able to adjust, move and lift objects up to 50 pounds in all directions.
8. Must be able to operate machinery, power tools and operate motor vehicles.
9. Must be able to repeat motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
10. Must be able to assess the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned constantly.
