Our client, a well-established premium beauty and skincare company based in Orange County, California, is seeking an experienced Director of eCommerce to lead their North American direct-to-consumer digital business. This is a unique opportunity to join a restructured eCommerce team and drive strategic growth for a brand with strong market presence and significant expansion potential.The ideal candidate will be both strategic and tactical, a hands-on eCommerce operator with deep experience in site management, conversion optimization, and operational leadership. You'll have the autonomy to shape the direction of a ~$50M digital business and build your team as the department scales.This role offers the rare combination of working with an established brand while having the entrepreneurial freedom to innovate and execute like a startup.Role SummaryAs Director of eCommerce, you will own the end-to-end digital customer experience and drive revenue growth across the brand's DTC channels. Reporting to the VP of eCommerce, you'll lead strategy and execution while partnering cross-functionally with Marketing, Creative, Operations, and Product Development teams.Key Responsibilities:eCommerce Strategy & OperationsDrive the North American eCommerce strategy aligned with broader business objectives and digital goalsManage the DTC digital business to ensure consistent growth in awareness, engagement, and revenueLead initiatives that optimize the customer journey from discovery through conversion and retentionOversee merchandising strategy, promotional campaigns, seasonal planning, inventory coordination, content strategy, and performance analyticsBuild and maintain strong partnerships with Finance, Marketing, Product Development, Supply Chain, and Customer Service teamsManage relationships with third-party agencies, system integration partners, and vendors (developers, subscription platforms, CRO tools, etc.)Digital Execution & InnovationDevelop and implement an eCommerce roadmap focused on revenue growth, profitability, and customer satisfactionLaunch new capabilities with emphasis on loyalty programs, personalization, and engaging content experiencesChampion exceptional user experience by improving site UX, streamlining customer journeys, and delivering personalized contentIdentify and integrate emerging digital capabilities to drive competitive differentiation and customer engagementData & AnalyticsDeliver comprehensive weekly and monthly sales reporting with clearly defined KPIsGenerate actionable insights using customer surveys, digital analytics, and behavioral dataImplement testing strategies to improve conversion rates and retention metricsTrack ROI of digital investments with clear reporting on customer acquisition, growth, engagement, and overall eCommerce performancePerformance OptimizationUse data-driven testing to identify friction points in the customer journey and prioritize high-impact improvementsPartner with Finance to develop budget scenarios aligned with sales goals and marketing investment strategiesCollaborate with Planning teams to optimize inventory assortments, align stock with demand, and ensure product availabilityProvide regular performance updates to senior leadership on DTC business resultsExperience & Background:Minimum 12 years of experience in eCommerce or digital marketing, with at least 5 years in a management role with direct DTC responsibilityProven track record of scaling an eCommerce business and consistently achieving revenue targetsBackground in CPG, premium beauty, or skincare industries strongly preferredDemonstrated success managing complex, cross-functional digital initiativesTechnical Expertise:Experience with major eCommerce platforms (Shopify, Magento, or similar)Proficiency with analytics tools including Google AnalyticsStrong knowledge of CRM/email marketing platforms (Klaviyo or similar)Experience with conversion rate optimization (CRO) and A/B testing platformsSolid understanding of digital advertising, SEO, and customer retention strategiesLeadership & Soft Skills:Exceptional project management and organizational skills with ability to manage multiple prioritiesOutstanding communication and presentation abilities—comfortable presenting to senior leadershipStrategic thinker with strong tactical execution capabilitiesAbility to navigate ambiguity and thrive in fast-paced, dynamic environmentsAdaptable problem-solver who can pivot quickly based on business needsCollaborative team player who works effectively across diverse functional teamsEducation:Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Marketing, Communications, or related fieldAdvanced degree preferredPreferred:Experience with Salesforce Commerce Cloud (SFCC) is a significant plusPassion for skincare and understanding of the beauty consumerExperience building and scaling eCommerce teamsBackground working with emerging brands or in entrepreneurial environmentsFamiliarity with loyalty program implementation and personalization strategiesBase Salary: $160,000 -
