POSITION SUMMARY Under the direct supervision of the Recreation Superintendent and/or the Recreation Coordinator, the Recreation Aide assists in recreation programming and chaperoning for events and trips put on by the Gene Doty Senior Center. Program and special event requirements include frequent movement of furniture, tables, and chairs for setting up various event layouts. The Recreation Aide builds customer relations while greeting the public in person or by telephone in a prompt, courteous and professional manner. The Recreation Aide also registers participants for Department activities and answers questions about Department programming. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Provides customer service at the Senior Center. Accurately records and relays messages. Accurately records activity attendance(s). Relays information to the public when asked about various City activities, functions, or community related senior resources. Assists in marketing of recreation programs through creation of marketing materials/flyers/ or in photography to promote current & future events/programming. Plans, organizes and runs daily events as well as minor special events or special trips held on the weekend or during the evening workweek. Aides in chaperoning and assisting clients on day trips or evening outings. Frequent traveling withing 85-mile radius and back. Collects and distributes incoming mail. Provides clerical support when needed to Management Team members including typing, photocopying, filing, making telephone calls, giving tours to new members or those inquiring about rentals, etc. Maintains computer database for on-line computer registration system; assists in registering participants for recreation programs and events. Collects fees for the Senior Center including fees related to private rentals held at the center along with applications and fees for Community Events coordinated or arranged by The City's Event Specialist/ Senior Center Event Coordinator. Assists with setup & teardown for events/programs Page 2 of 3 Maintains or resets rooms with minimal daily cleaning. Other duties as assigned.
