Description

SUMMARY: A host is the first person a customer when walking into the restaurant. We are looking for enthusiastic and customer service-oriented hosts to great and seat customers, take reservations, and ensure a positive guest experience.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Greet guests as they approach the restaurant with a positive and welcoming attitude
  • Seat guests, provide menus, and offer to turn heaters on (if weather prompts)
  • Answer calls at the host stand, respond to inquiries, transfer calls, and take to-go-orders
  • Inspect dining and serving areas to ensure cleanliness and proper set up
  • Inform patrons of establishments specialties and features
  • Direct guests to designated meeting rooms or resort rooms
  • Receive and record patrons dinning reservations and preferences on OpenTable
  • Communicate room charges to the front desk (if applicable)
  • Operate cash register to accept payments for food and beverages
  • Assist with preparing and serving food and beverages
  • Clean windows and dust restaurant areas to ensure optimum cleanliness for our guests
  • Assist bussers if there is a need for tables to be cleared or set up to accommodate incoming reservations
  • Communicate with Restaurant Manager any discrepancies in reservations
  • Perform other related duties as requested by the supervisor
Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & ABILITIES
  • Must provide prompt and cordial service to all guests
  • Cash handling skills required
  • Ability to navigate a POS system
  • Ability to multitask by greeting guests, taking phone calls, and walking guests to their tables
  • Ability to understand and carry out written and verbal instructions
  • Apply critical thinking to solve problems in standardized situations
  • Ability to communicate clearly and promptly with restaurant and kitchen staff
  • Must be able to work independently and in a team environment
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
  • At least 1-2 years of relevant experience
  • Prior resort and/or hospitality experience preferred
  • High school diploma or equal to a GED
CERTIFICATES & LICENSES
  • Food Handler Certificate required
  • TIPS certification preferred
  • Must present proof you are legally authorized to work in the United States
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to:
  • Ability to lift 25-50 points
  • Stand and walk for long periods of time
  • Ability to carry 5-10 pounds
  • Frequently stoops, stands, lifts, pours and carries
  • Ability to use hands and fingers to handle objects, tools and controls
