Dash-Muse Teaching Fellow Georgetown University: Law Center Location: Georgetown Law Human Rights Institute Open Date: Nov 13, 2025 Deadline: Feb 18, 2026 at 11:59 PM Eastern Time Description 2026-2028 Dash-Muse Teaching Fellow The Georgetown Law Human Rights Institute (HRI) is seeking a legal teaching fellow for a two-year appointment beginning in July 2026. The position is designed for a Georgetown Law J.D. or LL.M. graduate with human rights experience, an interest in teaching, and a commitment to a career in human rights. The Dash-Muse Teaching Fellow will work closely with HRI faculty to develop, teach, and supervise students in the year-long Human Rights Advocacy in Action Practicum. Practicum projects are co-designed with human rights NGOs and seek to advance human rights at the domestic or international level. The fellow, faculty, and students travel during Week One in January to conduct on-the-ground fact-finding or other fieldwork. The fellow will also collaborate with HRI leadership on Institute programs and events, including developing and teaching the 1L Human Rights Associates Program; organizing human rights conferences and events, including our annual Samuel Dash Conference on Human Rights; providing academic and career advice to students interested in human rights; supporting the campus human rights community; engaging with the Institute's human rights alumni network; maintaining strong ties to human rights practitioners; and supporting the Institute's efforts to create human rights fellowship opportunities for graduating students. Additional responsibilities may be determined based on the fellow's specific background and interests, as well as the Institute's needs. Qualifications: This fellowship is open to Georgetown Law graduates (J.D. and LL.M.) with at least two years of experience, preferably in human rights or international law. The annual salary is $70,000 for the first year and $75,000 for the second year; the fellow will also receive full LL.M. tuition and fees as well as health and dental benefits. In addition to the responsibilities described above, during his/her first year, the fellow pursues a program of graduate study through a year-long seminar course on clinical pedagogy, taught by the Georgetown clinical faculty. The fellow may also audit regular law school courses. Upon successful completion of the fellowship, the fellow is awarded an LL.M. degree in Advocacy. Qualifications J.D. or LL.M. degree from Georgetown Law; Human rights litigation and/or advocacy experience; Strong case or project management skills with experience managing client and/or partner relationships; Interest in course design, legal teaching, and student supervision, especially for a project-based experiential course; Commitment to the success of Georgetown Law students and alumni who are part of our human rights community, through academic and career mentoring; Sound judgment and a record of taking initiative; Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; Ability to work both independently and as part of a small team; Strong legal research, writing, and editing skills; and Familiarity with Institutional Review Board processes or ethical human subjects research principles (preferred).
