Research Scientist 3 1 day ago • NYS Office for People With Developmental Disabilities Base Pay Range $96,336.00/yr - $121,413.00/yr Overview The Research Scientist 3 will lead a team within the Bureau of Population Health, Division of Data Strategy and Management (DSM). Under the guidance of the Bureau Director, the incumbent will supervise research, analysis, reporting, and evaluation activities while managing day‑to‑day team operations. Responsibilities Project manage and develop internal and public‑facing Tableau dashboards for Medicaid and other data sources. Act as OPWDD’s Tableau Site Administrator: create/manage users, groups, content, and monitor analytics. Collaborate across agency to promote Tableau best practices. Maintain and expand Data Management and Strategy’s website presence; prepare infographics, reports, and presentations for public dissemination. Develop metrics and data systems to support culturally competent services and population health outcomes. Conduct descriptive and inferential analyses using SAS, SPSS, SQL, R, and other statistical methods. Communicate progress and outcomes regularly to multidisciplinary peers. Collaborate with research scientists and analytical staff on all research phases, including design, execution, and policy recommendation. Assume major responsibility for projects with limited supervision, including risk mitigation and resource allocation. Telecommuting may be discussed at interview; current policy requires at least half‑time in office. Perform duties and other duties as assigned with limited supervision. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree and four years of professional research experience in Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Biostatistics, Public Health, Epidemiology, Psychology, Sociology, Communications, Health Informatics, or a related field. Master’s degree in an appropriate field may substitute for one year of experience. Ph.D. in an appropriate field may substitute for an additional year of experience. Preferred Qualifications Strong statistical and data management skills. Proficient in Microsoft Power BI or Tableau – Tableau experience strongly preferred. Experience with SAS, SPSS, R, SQL, Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Experience extracting, merging, and linking health care datasets, including Medicaid data. Knowledge of statistical methods for predictive analytics. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and in a team environment. Additional Comments Preference will be given to OPWDD employees impacted by closures.
