About You You are a personable professional committed to a career in public accounting. You have experience in family office tax work, including preparing and reviewing multi‑state partnership, S‑Corp, C‑Corp, trust, and individual returns. You have outstanding organizational skills and can effectively plan and delegate work. Your written and oral communication skills are first‑rate, as is your attention to detail and ability to meet a deadline. You take pride in providing stellar customer service to your clients and collaborating with your colleagues. You are equally adept in following directions when needed and using your creativity to solve problems and think outside the box. You are often praised for your excellent judgement and curiosity – knowing when to take the initiative, when to ask for direction from team members; and a passion to dig deeper to find solutions. Most importantly, you are a team‑oriented, flexible thinker who puts clients and the team first. Manager candidates must have their CPA or EA license. What You’ll Do Actively participate in the development and execution of a strategic plan for RSJ’s two largest tax clients (70+ returns each, all complex). Prepare, review, and analyze individual, trust, and pass‑through tax returns to ensure accuracy and compliance with tax codes, laws and regulations, including complex multi‑state returns and separate activity schedules; Analyze client financial statements and propose adjusting journal entries as needed to ensure accuracy and completeness before tax preparation; Maintain accurate and updated documentation of tax preparation work; Stay up to date on tax codes, laws, and regulations and provide updates to associates on your team as well as advice to clients; Assist with responses to IRS and state tax notices; Monitor engagement economics (budget, work‑in‑progress, collections); Keep team leaders apprised on status of projects and deadlines; Actively participate in client meetings and discussions; and Supervise and mentor associates, senior associates, and supervisors, including participation in their formal reviews and their career development. Required Qualifications 8+ years of public accounting firm experience Demonstrated experience with pass‑through returns CPA/EA (required for managers) Ability to work overtime as required Software Knowledge of Prosystems or CCH Axcess Tax Knowledge of Engagement Trial Balance software Knowledge of XCM Tracking Systems Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook) What We Offer We’re all about investing in your future Join us for a rewarding career filled with growth opportunities and ongoing training. Salary Range: $130k‑$190k + Performance‑Based Bonus (commensurate with experience) Signing Bonus Health Insurance: 1) Medical Insurance - $85/month for employee only (additional cost for covering dependents), 2) Dental Insurance, 3) Vision Insurance Health Savings Account (firm contributes $1300 annually – accrues monthly) 125 Plan 401(k) with 25% match of employee contribution after one year PTO – 25 days per year (accrued monthly) Additional PTO Thanksgiving Week (full week) Employer Paid CPE’s Employee Referral Bonus Program Life Insurance Billable Hour Requirement: 1300‑1400 hours annually Busy Season Hours: The Family Office group aims for a smooth year with a limited number of weeks that require 50+ billable hours. A more normal schedule would be to work 40+ billable hour weeks for a longer period rather than work excessive hours for a short period.
