Member of a construction design engineering team overseeing project scoping, development of design contracts (technical specifications, cost estimates, etc), technical oversight of design, field inspections to confirm drawings/specifications and codes are met, and commissioning of projects ranging from multi-year, multi-million-dollar investment projects to smaller scope, short duration projects. Develops and implements capital improvement projects, such as construction, remodeling, renovation of buildings and facilities, including preliminary concept development, detailed engineering design, and bidding. Designs and plans mechanical, electrical, plumbing, civil, architecture and other infrastructure systems. Conducts preliminary surveys and prepares schematics and work drawings for the construction of current, new, or remodeled structures and facilities. Complies with organizational and governmental safety standards. Participates in the planning and installation of new facility systems. May work with multiple components including HVAC systems, air or liquid cooling systems, power distribution units, fire systems, life safety systems, etc.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field; or Master's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field.
Experience with construction and/or design cost estimating.
Knowledge of industry and building trade practice, techniques, codes, and standards.
Knowledge of infrastructure design and construction.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and computer aided design (CAD) drafting software

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is operated for the U.Department of Energy (DOE) by Fluor Marine Propulsion, LLC (FMP), a wholly owned subsidiary of Fluor Corporation.
