Cake Decorator

Essential Functions

Provides customers with superior service
Has knowledge of product
Ices and decorates cakes for showcase and as ordered
Maintains work area and equipment in a clean, sanitary manner
Practice safe food handling regarding temperatures, cross contamination, & hygiene
Rotates product and removes poor quality or damaged product
Finishes desserts with pastry bag
Prepares boards and doilies



Other Responsibilities

Removes trash to designated area
Removes cardboard to baler area and operates baler following recycling procedures
Bakes product as needed and according to specifications
Weighs and wraps product according to specific guidelines
Cleans display cases and equipment
Performs duties related to reclamation program
Performs duties related to recycling program
Finds more efficient ways to do the job and to seek to reduce costs and improve labor productivity.
Performs UFCW Local 27 duties incl. stock, bagging, and cash register



Education, Experience and Skills Required

Ability to read, writes, and speaks English and performs basic math skills
Ability to understand and follow directions
Ability to perform the job while standing
Full range of motion from kneeling to standing repeatedly with ability to reach above the shoulder
Ability to lift product and supplies up to 50 lbs.
Ability to work in varying temperatures
Ability to operate a digital scale
Ability to push/pull 4-wheel equipment loaded with product
Ability to operate all bakery department equipment including but not limited to scales, ovens, dividers, slicers, and mixers
Ability to operate overhead projector (copy cakes)
Ability to operate air brush machine (cake kits)
Ability to use full variety of cake decorating equipment (Pastry Bags, Copy-Kake, etc.) to department standards
