About The Position
A Registered Nurse (RN) - MedSurg/Telemetry provides vital nursing care in a medical-surgical unit focused on telemetry monitoring. You'll care for patients with various conditions, including cardiovascular and respiratory issues, post-operative recovery, and other acute illnesses. The RN's responsibilities include administering medications, monitoring vital signs, conducting assessments, collaborating with healthcare teams, and providing essential patient education to ensure optimal recovery.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Assessment and Monitoring:
- Conduct thorough and ongoing assessments, evaluating vital signs, heart rhythms, and overall patient conditions.
- Monitor and interpret telemetry data to identify any heart rhythm irregularities, promptly notifying the healthcare team.
- Assess patients' physical, emotional, and psychological needs, developing personalized care plans to facilitate recovery.

Medication Administration and Management:
- Administer prescribed medications correctly via oral, intravenous, and intramuscular routes, ensuring accurate dosing.
- Monitor patients for side effects and adverse reactions, reporting any issues to the healthcare team.
- Implement pain management strategies and modify care based on patient feedback and comfort levels.

Telemetry and Cardiac Monitoring:
- Monitor patients through telemetry units, documenting heart rate and rhythm assessments, and reporting abnormal findings to the medical staff.
- Assist in interpreting telemetry readings for prompt action on arrhythmias or other concerns.
- Maintain telemetry equipment, ensuring its reliability for effective patient monitoring.

Wound Care and Post-Surgical Care:
- Administer post-operative care, including monitoring surgical sites and managing drains for optimal healing.
- Change dressings, watch for signs of infection, and educate patients about post-surgical care.
- Administer treatments to prevent complications like DVT or infections.

- Inform patients and families about disease management and medication regimens.
- Guide patients on managing chronic conditions and maintaining overall health.
- Provide information on fall prevention, nutrition, activity restrictions, and discharge plans.
