When you join our team as an Assistant Store Manager, you’ll take on key store management responsibilities including supervising day‑to‑day store activities, ensuring overall store performance, managing schedules, developing operational action plans, and identifying training opportunities to grow the team. Position Details Position Type: Full‑Time Average Hours: 38 hours per week Starting Wage: $27.00 per hour Wage Increase (Year 2): $28.00 per hour Duties and Responsibilities Assists the direct leader with developing and implementing action plans to improve operating results. Establishes and communicates job responsibilities and performance expectations to direct reports. Identifies training and development opportunities for direct reports. Communicates company strategy and core values to create teamwork and belonging. Monitors the competitive environment and advises the leader on necessary adjustments. Provides product feedback and recommends items to carry or discontinue. Participates in interviewing store personnel. Communicates weekly updates, milestones, developments, and concerns. Ensures adherence to inventory procedures, product handling guidelines, and cash control policies. Handles operational customer concerns in the leader’s absence. Identifies and rectifies hazards, maintains ergonomics and equipment. Maintains store cleanliness standards and proper signage. Assists with proper stock levels and product ordering. Merchandises products to maximize sales. Ensures quality and freshness of products and accurate signage. Assists with payroll, total loss budget, inventory counts, and new employee training. Supervises day‑to‑day operations of the team, escalating issues when necessary. Ensures direct reports complete assignments timely and effectively for excellent customer service. Complies with company policies, procedures, security, and confidentiality. Other duties as assigned. Physical Demands Stock merchandise from receiving to shelving, including lifting up to 45 pounds. Regularly sit, stand, bend, reach, push, pull, lift, carry, and walk in the store. Must perform duties with or without reasonable accommodations. Job Qualifications 18 years or older. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to provide and lead prompt, courteous customer service. Ability to build rapport, trust, and open communication. Ability to interpret and apply company policies. Ability to establish goals and guide employee performance. Ability to evaluate and drive performance of self and others. Understanding of budgeting, personnel costs, and expenses. Operates a cash register efficiently and accurately. Safely operates equipment (hand jack, floor scrubber, cardboard baler) and maintains cleaning duties. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Organized, multi‑tasking ability, attention to detail. Meets state and local alcohol handling/selling requirements. Education and Experience High School Diploma or equivalent preferred. Minimum 3 years progressive retail experience. Combination of education and experience providing equivalent knowledge. Prior management experience preferred.
