Boston, United States Amazon Full time

Overview In the Mechatronics & Sustainable Packaging Customer Experience organization, we work backwards from customer needs and represent their voice throughout the product lifecycle (from development to deployment to support). We aim to transform stand-alone work-cells into end-to-end integrated solutions that are safe, easy-to-operate, easy-to-maintain, easy-to-deploy, and easy-to-service. This role focuses on deploying MSP solutions and aligning with leadership on customer obsession, technology readiness, and performance in production. In the position of Ops Engineer Deployment & Ramp, you will oversee multiple products, programs, and projects and be involved in deploying MSP solutions at both newly constructed sites and operational fulfillment centers. Your primary role is to coordinate and execute installation, commissioning, and performance ramp-up of the product in the field, enabling the engineering and product teams to focus on system performance improvement and optimization. You will drive continuous improvement ideas into deployment cycle time (safety, quality, productivity) and detail engineering design improvements to hardware engineering and product teams to simplify installation. This role requires building relationships and capturing the voice of the customer. You may own a full program or a program region, set standards, and maintain quality within your scope. The role involves highly technical work related to automation installation and handling project management escalations at construction sites or live operation warehouses. The ideal candidate is proactive and takes independent initiative to improve MSP technology. Travel is a key aspect of this role. Project durations vary from a few days to several months, with travel across the US and, if the candidate is open to it, some international work. This is a travel-based role and you may travel to meet project requirements across North America, up to 75% or more. Key responsibilities You will manage the development of project plans and technical solutions which may not be defined, including problem statements and resource requirements definition. You will influence decisions on deployment and machine performance execution strategy to senior level leadership. You will own the tactical planning on the installation of complex cross-functional projects with impact across schedule, scope, cost and product performance. Projects may span organizations or geographies and include management of contractors and vendors. You will own the strategy of your program/product for annual resource and budget planning, define deployment plans of record, and set continuous improvement goals. This includes standards, mechanisms, and efficiencies across deployment execution and machine performance based on customer voice. You will own communication of program execution and performance both verbally and in writing, consolidating inputs across multiple internal cross-functional teams. This is a travel-based role with expected travel to meet project requirements across North America, up to 75% or more. A day in the life In this role you will focus on two primary lines of effort: deployment project management and product ramp-up support. Daily activities include collaboration with hardware engineering, technical program and product managers, and internal customers (site maintenance and operations teams) to ensure the product is ready for deployment and capable of meeting business requirements. You will travel to project sites and collaborate virtually and in person to align all stakeholders on program status. About the team The Mechatronics & Sustainable Packaging Customer Experience (MSP CX) team works backwards from internal customer insights to validate, deploy, and support MSP solutions in Brownfield and Greenfield sites globally, maximizing solution readiness and customer satisfaction. MSP CX maintains unified accountability in the field towards internal customers (RME, Ops, ACES, PE, GES, etc.), enabling vertical integration and lifecycle management of MSP solutions across three pillars: (I) Quality Assurance (MSP CX-QA), (II) Deployment & Ramp-up (MSP CX-DR), and (III) Support (MSP CX-S). Basic Qualifications 4+ years as an industrial engineer, operations engineer, manufacturing engineer, or project engineer in a manufacturing environment Experience leading the design, automation, deployment, and support of large-scale infrastructure Experience in project management including resource planning, managing schedules, reporting project status, and prioritizing tasks Experience working in a fast-paced, quickly changing or international environment Experience interpreting mechanical and electrical drawings Experience in a fast-paced, automated, industrial, logistics, production or manufacturing environment Bachelor's degree, or Master's degree in business, data science, public administration, finance, engineering, human resources or related field Ability to travel frequently within country up to 75% and occasionally internationally (~5%) Preferred Qualifications Experience working with and managing third-party vendors Experience with Six Sigma, lean manufacturing MBA, or Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, operations, engineering, analytics or related field Knowledge of diverse MHS, industrial mechanical and electrical systems and automation, controls and robotics systems Experience with complex automated material handling equipment, packaging technologies, and systems and high-speed manufacturing Experience owning program strategy, end-to-end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status.
